Re: All new steez sv tw

Does this model have brass gears like the USDM CT SV or aluminum/alloy? Haven’t seen this listed.

Kyoya Fujita uses Jackall Driftfry and Daiwa Steez Real Control rods, as I recall 61L and 65ML models, none of them has ST. And he is really good at this technique.
This.

Re: New Evergreen Kaleido Super Stallion GT3RS

I said the same in another earlier thread too about the EG sourcing of Ti guides. That’s not a +15,000 yen (?!?!) rod problem for me to figure out over the previous generations. Full M40X blank I would have pre-ordered but I’m gonna skip it and wait for the next Rapid Gunner lineage update since I s...

Re: New Evergreen Kaleido Super Stallion GT3RS

I was really looking forward to a true M40X blank version at that price point since it’s been teased for YEARS but the fact that it’s the same previous T1100G blank with the butt reinforcement only upgraded to M40X and the guide train changed (went from 9 Ti to 8 guides with 1/2 of them now SS inste...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

Personally I don’t have any use for super long leaders and all I fish on them is braid to fluoro with FG knots. The longest I recommend going is keeping the knot between the reel and the first big stripper guide where your finger is still on the braid when you are casting. The rod will straighten ou...

Re: Fun new EG rods and other goodies

Great reading. No doubt that the GT3 will be wildly popular but I’m not interested in a softer tip GT2 myself and adding M40X only to the back end of the rod isn’t enough for me to offset the switch to SS guides in the tip/berry section. I get the cast feel argument but it’s also been extremely diff...

Re: WHY are there no short enthusiast pitching sticks?!?!

EG Rapid Gunner.

If you’re really that hung up on 1-2” on a rod that’s gonna fish exactly like the 6’10” you’re looking for with perfect balance then like was mentioned, just get a custom made.

A true USDM X-Fast action in a JDM jig/frog rod isn’t something that grows on trees.

Re: WHY are there no short enthusiast pitching sticks?!?!

Evergreen Rapid Gunner (true USA X-fast tip) It’s technically a 7’0” but will fish about 6’10” with perfect balance. One of the best frog/jig rods ever made. I’d recommend the HD version for those applications, which has double footed guides (RSR is the same rod with single foot guides). That’s the ...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

It’s a SUPER stiff and boardy spinning rod and definitely comes down to style and personal preference. If anyone is looking for softness or feather light tip flex don’t buy it. Definitely be aware of what you’re getting into before buying one. It’s entirely intended to be a JDM heavy cover shooting ...

Re: Evergreen Spider Spin

The new grip is wicked. With 3 fingers in front of the reel foot my pointer finger rests perfectly on the front metal pipe that acts as a resonator. Very clever design and fit. This is how I hold a spinning rod (and apparently how Imae must too) but your mileage may vary. Reel size is a personal pre...

Evergreen Spider Spin

Received the new 611MH Spider Spin and it’s gorgeous and perfect finish as expected from EG. Balances best with a reel in the 175+ gram range. For anyone interested in the rod, it’s a bit lighter power than I had originally pictured since it’s marketed as a heavy cover rod (shore and “hanging” both)...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

There is no comparison between an 852 and the S68MH, it is significantly more powerful and yes it could easily fish a 3/8 jig, T-rig plastic, or hollow body frog in moderate to heavy cover.

Re: Studio Composite rods

Transworld and Paradox series? Not sure where you’re looking but they have lots of bass rods all the way down to M to MH-type rods (1 to 3 power). To me the 7606-5 fishes more like a USDM X-heavy cover flip/frog/punch type rod and it’s on the extreme light end of the swimbait rod spectrum. It CAN lo...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

Daiwa is one of the few companies these days that appears unwilling to advertise what’s used in their rods. For better or worse. Having fished the Real Control, Racing Designs, and USDM AGS rods quite a bit, along with other T1100G (and some T1100G+M40X) rods (some amazing and some disappointing), a...
