Re: Jerkbait rod

Shimano Expride 6' 10" Medium. Guide at lodge broke off the tip. Shimano replaced the rod. My only cost was $32 and a LONG wait. This rod has been hard to get. I will also try it as a topwater rod.

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty

I am a lefty, but as a boy no LH reels were available in my family (Dad was LH too). So what's wrong with casting LH and reeling RH? Kind of the opposite of some TT staff. I also switch my spinning reels handles to the right side. Just feels natural to me. :D

Re: Oneten stick jerkbaits

Tactical Bassin' says the Shimano Expride 6' 10" Medium is the best jerkbait rod money can buy. They are hard to get, though.
I'm going to try mine out soon. MB 110, 110+, Rerange.

Re: Kistler rods?

Just read the review on the new Helium ML. I have a Kistler salt-water popping rod I ordered from Trey at a fishing show at least 20 years ago. It is rated Medium power and probably Slow. This versatile rod has survived many trips and only has a paint rub to show for it. I think I paid $125 for it. ...

Re: Tackle box for air travel

Thanks for all the fine ideas. What I actually did was put any hooked lures and terminal tackle in three 3700 boxes. My reels and the 3700's and tools went into my checked luggage with a TSA Approved lock. All my plastics (considerable amount) and a large amount of prescription meds went into a larg...

Re: Tackle box for air travel

Thanks, Tokugawa. Sounds like a plan. Last trip I put the reels in my checked bag. Risky move.

Re: Tackle box for air travel

Thanks for the ideas. Maybe a large Halliburton case could hold my 3700 boxes. My reels travel in my checked suitcase. My rods are riding in a friend's large PVC tube. We are going to Lake Pechaco, MX for largemouth bass. I transfer the 3700 boxes into my large fishing backpack for outings. Some of ...

Tackle box for air travel

I need a tackle box that holds enough gear for a four day fishing trip. It must have a fighting chance to survive riding in the hold of an aircraft as checked luggage. Any recommendations? Please, no horror stories. Thanks,

Re: Small bearing greaser

Well I would like one. Looks like more than a $17 item, though. Went to the website and it was in Japanese. I asked a repair shop how they greased bearings and was told they don't....they oil them all. (not confidence inspiring)

Re: Small bearing greaser

Thanks, guys. $70 is a little steep for my infrequent use. I will visit my friends at the local Shimano shop and asked how they do it.

Small bearing greaser

I have misplaced my small bearing greaser, a two piece plastic rig. Some reel bearings should be greased, not oiled. I have over a dozen reels that need servicing and have not found anything with an on-line search. The missing greaser forces old grease out of the bearing without removing the shield....

Re: Shimano recommended gear grease CU150 DC

Bantam1, I was able to source ACE-0 online, so will start servicing a dozen + reels next week. Thanks for following up with the Service Centers. You are a fine rep for Shimano. =D>

Re: Shimano recommended gear grease CU150 DC

Bantam1, neither a local Shimano repair station nor the guy at the Irvin number had any knowledge of the ACE-0 grease you specified for Cross Carbon drag washers. I found some ACE-0 online. Where else is that grease used? Just being anal  . I own a dozen Shimano reels and want to give them the...
