Re: New Varivas: Less than thrilled

Nogales Dead or Alive. I really liked the previous incarnation of Varivas braid. I recommended it once or twice here. I can’t say the same for the above mentioned line, Nogales Dead or Alive. It’s wispy, like one of those summer spider webs across your way out of no where. It doesn’t sit well on th...

Re: Dark Sleeper as dropshot rig weight

I haven't tried it, but see two problems: I would expect a hard hookset to be needed to set the fin-shrouded hook of the Dark Sleeper, which requires stouter line than is typically favored for dropshotting. The pressure of setting the hook if the bottom bait is taken is going to put serious stress ...

Re: JDM crank baits

X2, great cranks! I rarely fish mine around thick cover, because they are hard to find now. Mg threadfin is absolutely killer at Sinclair in the winter This is my last one....beat up from all the fish, but still going strong! https://i.postimg.cc/XNGQ7gM2/20200730-210023.jpg I like the flat-side wi...

Re: JDM crank baits

These are my favorites but I have learned a valuable lesson in the difference between the two.. the original ones have a sliding ball that helps in casting and they weigh a bit more.. so now im looking for the first generation They’re both still being manufactured. The Spec II is just the silent ve...

I’ve been using my 7’3” glass for cranks, shallow, mid and deep (15’). I like it.

Re: Tatula Hate vs newer shimanos

Who’s designing for Doyo these days? Doyo makes Quantum and Abu reels to the mfgr's specs. Doyo. They are their own manufacturer that makes many brands as you know of as Abu Garcia, Lews, BPS, Pflueger, and many other internal parts for other companies. I know who Doyo is and what they do, Banax as...

Re: Tatula Hate vs newer shimanos

I personally have not been impressed with anything Shimano or Daiwa in the "workhorse" range. Ive been more satisfied overall with Doyo products. Who’s designing for Doyo these days? Reel looks nice enough. What’s with this bargain basement knobs on both Shimano and Daiwa, lately. I almost moved from Daiwa/Abu just for the septon!

Re: Shipping times nowadays

Placed an order on Saturday. I received it this morning at 10:30 as promised. I sent an e-mail confirming the receipt of my order, as is my practice. The vendor replied with, paraphrasing, “they will be using FedEx for all of their orders now because it’s cheaper and easier”. Talk about unintended ...
