Re: Trout dry flies don't float well

Agreed with the false casting. Personally, I like to add a smidge of foam in my patterns to mitigate this issue. Retying after 30-45minutes of fishing throughout the day can be a real chore. I also like using the powdered floatant, find that it works better than the gel.

Mussels. Clams. Turtles. Seems like anything other than a fish will bit my lure at times haha.

I tend to reel too fast anyway, so having the lower retrieve speed helps haha.

I bought a huge length of 1/4 inch thick EVA with adhesive for a project that ended up failing, will need to give this a shot...
I personally prefer the fly box style for single hook lures.

Re: Your 3 go to/favorite baits, and three you hate?

Over the past couple of years I've had a lot of success with: Finesse/shakeyhead worm on a 1/32oz jig head Inline spinner 3in Tubes Some lures I "hate" would be: 1/4oz+ Jigs 1/4oz+ Large spinnerbaits 1/2+ Lipless Cranks One thing to not is that I only hate these lures as I'm no good with them haha. ...

Re: Micro bass jig BFS rod

Took a leap of faith and ordered the new Missle Baits Ike's Micro Jig in 1/16oz and 3/16oz. 2 come per pack. Ordered from Tackle Warehouse. The 1/16oz was smaller than I though it would be...and it is sweet. Perfect size for using a "bigger" profile yet, still has a hook that will for in their mout...

Re: Favorite BFS rods and/or blanks?

How do ya'll like the NFC SJ-703 and SJ-732?
I'm considering using them for an all around power BFS rod, throwing 4-14g lures on them, but heard that they're pretty underpowered for what they're rated for.

Re: Is There A Way to Make A Standard Baitcast Spool To A Shallow Spool?

I know this is an odd question to ask. I remember many years ago, TT had an article to make a shallow spool from a standard casting spool. I can't find that article now,. Is there a way to do this or is it even possible without adding too much additional weight to the spool? I haven't read such art...

Re: Ned Rig CASTING only

used an aldebaran bfs xg with the expride 72ml bfs rod and i did really enjoy it. it got lots of back bone, fishes more like a m than ml. Expride A ML+ gets a nod from me. Beeefy backbone, but has a nice supple tip. I fish neds with this rod paired with a Curado 50e, but have used it with the Aldeb...

Re: Bass fishing versatility: stubbornness vs confidence

I didn't have confidence like I had with the popper I lost yesterday. Because of that, I think I was moving poppers faster this morning. When I have confidence in the technique (in this case, moving a popper very slowly), I don't mind being slow, because I think a bass is going to hit it. But, when...

Re: City/Urban Ponds

City ponds are my bread and butter, but I'd be lying if I said I had these bass figured out... they can be so finnicky, especially towards the late fall I've found. I usually go with finesse around this time of year, a slider worm usually does it for me.

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?

I'm inclined to say shimano, considering my history with their bicycle/fishing products. However, I will say that the Daiwa reels that I have owned have been stellar. I love my Legalis LT, it gets a beating as my backpacking reel and it's as smooth as it was day one. Has been three years and I still...

Re: First BFS Baits

For jigs, I really like the Missile Baits Micro Jigs by Ike. They come in as low as 1/16oz and cast much further their counterparts [I'm looking at you bitsy bug]. The micro skirt also matches the jig size quite nicely.

Re: what's everyone's most productive lure?

I love the Jika rig. I use a snap with my lures, so it gives me the option to throw weightless or with weight. This year I really want to hone in my confidence with jerkbait... hopefully, this early spring will prove to be a productive jerkbait season.
