Re: Old School G Loomis

my oldest Loomis is an SJR700 GL3 that i bought in 2004. its a gem of a rod.

back then i used a stradic 1000 on it, now I use a Saros 1000. its perfect with 6 pound test Sufix Siege.

Re: Blown up Curado K.

I understand there was a major design flaw in the early K series, and I suspect it is one if them.
the only thing i heard was the thumb bar kept coming off.

what else have you heard??

Re: 7'6" Spinning Rods

I'm the same, over the last few years Ive been converting all my rods to longer 7'6 or 7'5 rods. I going to give a shout out to the 2018 model E6X JWR892S 7'5 M power Jig and Worm spinning rod. even though its an extra fast JW rod, it makes a great rod for everything spinning. the full cork handle s...

Re: Looking for a 2 piece USDM spinning rod under $300 that can throw drop shot and small paddle tails

Have you considered 3 piece options? I have two G. Loomis Escape travel spinning rods that are awesome, they come with a rod bag and hard PVC rod tube that will fit diagonally in the largest checked baggage suitcase. I have the 7 foot M power and 6'9 MH power but I believe they make a 7 foot ML powe...

I have the Loomis GL3 SJR700 which would be perfect for what you are looking for.

however, not sure if these rods are still in production, the one i have is 16 years old now.

Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod

As a huge fan of the Avid blank, I'm pleased with the fact that these are built on essentially an upgraded/improved Avid blank. However, i wish they were all cork instead of EVA foam on the foregrip. Looking forward to some longer models too with the full release. We need some 7'6 models, something ...

Re: What are your 5 picks for reels that changed the market

I wanted to add that the Team Daiwa TD2 Hi reels from the late 80s were supposedly the first baitcasters to have instant antireverse (no handle play when you try to back reel)

my dad had one in 89 paired with a Team Daiwa twitchin' rod. great combo that i believe was $300 US at the time.

Re: which spinning reel if someone else paid for it?

to be honest, i can't see any reason to have anything better than a stradic. I have fished many stradic models over the years and they are all excellent.

my latest is the FK. its amazing. older model now, but still amazing

Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod

yes the guides add weight but of course they always do. Im just saying that guides have never impacted the balance of a rod if the rod blank is designed properly to compensate. the rods im speaking of are mainly the 2018 model E6X and the older GL3 spinning rods (i own a few different models) they h...
