Re: Trout casting rod.
How’s the speedstyle? I recently got an Aldebaran bfs and was planning to pair it up with a speedstlye UL. Mainly use lures 3-7g with the occasional 2g lure. All my major craft rods feels like it's not true to its power rating. The ultralight fishes more like a light action, it's pretty stiff, defi...

Re: Trout casting rod.
I've been using a few rods from finesse fishing. Shimano Trout One NS paired with a Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG, ktf spool, 10 lbs suffix 832 braid and 5lb fluoro leader. This little short rods are great, I can cast a 2.5g spoon 40-50 feet, that's plenty of distance to cover most body of water. I hook...

Re: Who is using BFS casting gear for trout/panfish
My quest started with BFS Bass fishing. I was fascinated that I could almost eliminate my need for a spinning setup by casting light stuff on baitcasters. I have always loved UL fishing and soon found the bait finesse system for trout in Japan. To date I have owned and fished the Major Craft Fine T...

Re: Finish issues on newer Shimano baitcasters
I got a rather nasty chip next to the tension knob on my Aldebaran BFS after few months of ownership. No idea how that happened. The reel's always in its neoprene sleeve and I never handled it rough. Disappointing, since my chronarch seen more abuse plus it's rarely in in a sleeve. It's in much bet...

Re: Steez a tension knob
Accidentally turned the spool tension knob, how to reset to factory settings? Thanks guys 1. Release your clutch and try shaking the spool. 2. If it is shaking, increase the tension bit by bit until it COMPLETELY stops shaking. If you accidentally tightened your spool instead, when you release the ...

Re: Finish issues on newer Shimano baitcasters
I am having similar issues with my 16 aldebaran bfs xg. I am having the paint bubbling in a few areas on the side plate on the handle side. The frame is fine no issues there. I did leave a wet neoprene reel cover on the reel overnight which might be part of the reason but I haven't had that issue w...

Re: Finish issues on newer Shimano baitcasters
Are you referring to the new 16 aldebaran bfs? The one with magnetic brakes. Was thinking of picking one up, but would opt for the scorpion bfs instead if the paint has problems. My Steez A paint is chipping too with NO saltwater use. its a heartache. Sucks if the painting on the aldebaran bfs has p...

Re: SCORPION BFS vs ALPHAS AIR vs G1 1012 SV
I have Steez SV (non TWS version, but I have T3 SV as well so I know TWS is not making a large difference for these light casting weights) and Alphas Air. Steez SV is OK from 4g and up, for 2g you should for sure go Alphas Air, the Air is also better for 4g. For casting 2g I strongly recommend Corz...

Re: SCORPION BFS vs ALPHAS AIR vs G1 1012 SV
With the G1 1012SV on the right rod, I have no problem casting 1/16 oz plus small trailers very good distance. Same with the Zpi Nrc001-m. Being your wanting to go up to a quarter ounce, this might be better. Better line capacity, just don't fill the spool. If you were going with straight 1/16 oz a...

Re: SCORPION BFS vs ALPHAS AIR vs G1 1012 SV
Hi everyone, I'm very keen on getting a bfs setup. Pretty much confirmed I'm pairing the reel with a majorcraft corzza 4-12 lbs bfs rod. I currently own a Steez A TW and a Curado K. Was wondering if I should just get the SV spool for the Steez or go ahead and get an alphas air or a scorpion bfs. If...
