Re: Newbie question about first kayak
Not sure what your budget is but for long trips, my Hobie Pro Angler is champ. I also own an OK Drifter and Prowler but for long periods on the water, the hobie just makes life easy. I can fish hands free, I can peddle when tired and can stand up and stretch when needed. I transport it by loading it...

Re: Opinions on the Quantum Tour Edition & Energy PT Bur
I own all the reels mentioned on this thread and have to say that the curado is better than the Quantums. I actually took back two of the quantum burners and replaced them with the curados. The curados cast better but I do like how easy it is to adjust the breaks on the quantum. That wasnt enough to...

Re: Any fellow exotic bait lovers/users?
I use them and I lose them. I lost 6 lucky craft pointers, 5 yozuri 3D minnows, 2 river2sea lures last week while fishing for trout. The spanish mackeral were thick!!! I did however catch tons of trout, bluefish, Spanish mackeral, jack crevelle, redfish and a few lady fish or skipjack. I dont mind l...

Re: Any info on Ambassadeur RCN60 Record reel?
I am not a fan of ambassadeurs but the record is a great reel, especially for the price. I have quite a few calcuttas and the record still gets play. Good reel and if you can, get the high capacity spool. It allows for the reel to be used for all kinds of fishing.

Re: Should I try a Diawa reel?
Some of you guys are soooo funny just hyping a brand. Daiwa makes some very good reels, as does shimano and quantum. The daiwa reels do however give you more bang for your buck in the lower end reels and also, as someone mentioned, the Daiwa Advantage is one heck of a reel for the money. I own all t...

Re: Help! January fishing trip--but to where????
Port Fourchon Lousianna or Venice Louisianna. The best tuna fishing of the year can be had during this time and a fish over 100 is not uncommon. You would be fishing the lump and can catch anything from Tuna, blackfin, bonita, wahoo, mako, you name it but more than likely, you would catch tons and t...

The curado will do fine. Sounds like a good setup and I dont see you having any problems.

Re: quantum tour ed 1171PT or curado 201dhsv??
You will regret it if you pass on the curado 201 for the Quantum. I own both reels and have to say that the curado is a much better reel. The curado cast much better, it has a stronger drag than the quantum. It is a little easier to adjust the breaks on the quantum but just a little. The curado side...
