Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
Of the spools listed I hve only used the I'se spool and the airy red. Of those two the airy red would be my choice. I didn't really care for the I'se much it was somewhat wild and unpredictable. If you want a Pixy spool for 3/8 I'd go with the PX68 spools. or Maybe even an SV 105.

Re: Daiwa SS SV G1 spool vs. Daiwa Zillion SV TW G1 Spool
The SS SV spool might actually be the better option for an OG Steez. It has a larger inductor on it if memory serves correct. The Zillion SV TW and Steez SV TW spools are too fast for my liking in a non SV Steez. It barrels down to magnetic polarity and inductor size to make a good match. If you're...

Re: Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula???
Those heartland rods are on my bucket list. Boy, are they spendy though.

Or do you guys not smile when taking fish photos too? ... THAT is one of my pet peeves 😉 So that's not just an Aussie fishing thing... Phew thought we owned that outright... Nope, it's important to have a stubble beard and stare at the camera with a stink eye that says, in no uncertain terms that t...

Re: Sealing the cork
U40 is great. I add to all my work rods. A thin layer does not affect feel one bit and most cork just slightly darkens. I love the stuff! Just a thin coat and it takes seconds to apply. It feels to me like U40 does change the feel a bit..but in a good way. It makes it have a slightly velvet-y tacti...

Re: 2-Power High End Casting Rods?
I’m looking into buying a high end 2-power casting rod for shaky heads, Ned rigs etc. The only rods in this category that I’m aware of are the NRX 852C and the Conquest 842MBR. Does anybody know of any non-Loomis alternatives? Not trying to avoid the company, just making sure I’m considering all op...

Re: Shipping times nowadays
I placed a Hedgehog order last night (I paid dearly for shipping) and they're using Yamato Transport instead of Japan Post. Anyone else place an order with them recently? How long did it take? I got an order from Hedgehog and one from Japan Tackle. I got notices from Japan Post that they had the sh...

Re: Do you keep back up reel
I keep a few new reels in back-up for future use. Do you? Nope, but I do seem to always have a few reels sitting around that are waiting to find their soulmate of a rod and I guess as far as that goes, a few rods sitting around waiting to find their perfect reel. Oh.. and I guess a few that were to...

Re: New vs old greats for cranking.
I think that the TD-Z series was the best quality production reel ever made. The quality of reels has slowly gone downhill since, though I do love me some OG Steez and PX68's as well. I also have a few newer Daiwas, Tat SV TW, SS SV etc, and while I like them and think that they decent enough, they ...
Re: KastKing
I'm guilty, I have I think 5 of them. I bought them a few years ago. I'm not sure why I bought them, I guess I was sort of intrigued by the hype and their glossy graphics. I figured that it would be a great thing if I could use that $50 Assassin reel instead of having to buy those spendy Steez and P...

Re: Ss sv spool options
I was just curious if anyone has tried a SS SV with a Zpi nrc001m spool, steez 103 r+, or steel limited 105sv spool? I keep reading about the SS sv being over braked but not sure if it's the spool, magnets, or both. I think it is mostly the spool. I just bought a Zillion G1 spool for Tackle Trap fo...

Re: Buying Reel On Ebay From Japan
If you are buying used the only additional fee would be customs, if you get selected. I’ve purchased three reels this winter from Japan, as well as several lots of lures, and have yet to accrue any additional charges. I even managed to get a one piece rod through without customs, but I got lucky th...
