Re: Keitech FSPEC KTC766F-SPG

Interesting rod. I am interested in the sensitivity. Also noticed the spiral is setup for a right hand reel. Spiral should turn toward the handle side so they are both on the same side of the rod. At least thats the logic I have heard and follow in my spiral builds. Might have to get one of these to...

Re: 2023 Vanquish

The models are showing up in JDM sites available now. Just picked up the 23 VANQUISH C2500SXG.

Also picked up the 23 TATULA LT 2500S-XH-QD since that showed up also.

I paid with a virtual Visa (Capital One) and it was about 5% cheaper than Paypal due to better conversion rates.

Re: New Steez A II vs High End Shimano’s

I have several Steez including the A and AII and HLC and about 25 other Daiwa reels. My favorite use for Daiwas is for skipping baits with an SV spool. Despite trying really hard, and spending thousands of dollars on the Best Daiwa reels, the Metanium is my favorite reels for most baitcasting duties...

Re: NRX 902s vs Steez AGS MML for ned rigs

I have the NRX+ 901,902, 821 and the Steez mml and have fished all 4 with ned rigs. I find myself with a ned on the 901 since it can cast the 1/10 or 1/16 head further than the others. As far as sensitivity, NRX has that buzzy feel that I like and the Daiwa does not have. I use the MML for Neko and ...

Re: Bottom Contact Rod!

I have three rods in mind right off the bat. Since you like Loomis/Shimano products, I'd consider either the NRX+ 894c or for a little slower action which many, like myself prefer for those applications, the 904c MBR. The new Megabass P5 BMG is amazing. This rod was made for your applications and d...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

I put 60yds of 7lb sniper on the KKR Alphas spool and it filled it maybe halfway. I was surprised at how much this spool will hold. I read that it says to only use braid, but I am using fluoro since I have never had a problem with spool deformation. I am going to throw little crankbaits that cast a ...

Re: Preferred Wacky Rig Setup? NRX/Megabass

I use the Daiwa 7'6" MML Steez spinner. I am thinking of trying the new Epitome with an Aldebaron for this duty along with Neko rigs. I generally use the same weedless hook on a rod and switch between wacky and neko depending on grass/cover.

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

Very impressed with the new KKR Long cast spool for the Daiwa Alphas SV TW. It is much lighter and has a thinner, shorter fixed inductor making it faster than the stock SV shallow spool version. The line capacity is a tad more than the stock shallow spool. I paid $65 and got it in a little over a we...

Z-Man Micro Finesse

I picked up a few of these micro jig heads and a couple of the micro plastics over this winter. I have not gotten a chance to use them due to the weather. I was wondering if anyone else has had a chance to use them and provide some insight to their effectiveness and best uses. In addition, I was won...

Re: Okuma Hakai

I bought the Hakai as a really light reel for the Epitome. I got the reel long before the rod and used it for a variety of things. It wound up on my cranking rod since it really bomb casts a long way. It replaced a Tatula Elite Mag Z setup. I may give it a go on the Epitome for a super light combo f...

Re: Fishing Favors the Bold. Trika’s 7 Foot+ Casting Rods

Thanks for this review. I purchased the 7'5" MH when if first came out and think it's a remarkable rod. My impressions are mostly in line with those expressed in this review. I think that the sensitivity is incredible, especially fishing deep jigs and Texas rigged ribbon tailed worms. It has replace...

Re: The CHEAPEST ROD BUILD

I built a rod on a $35 NFC Delta Hybrid CB 7106 blank and put a cheap Mudhole guide set on it with a cheap seat. I use it on Deep cranks and some swimbaits. The action of the blank is fantastic. I have like $70 is the whole setup and I use it more that the Dobyns 806CB that I bought for this task. G...

Re: Trika Rods

I have the 7'6" MH casting rod and have reported how much I like it on it here. What I would like is some review of the 7'6" spinning rod and how it compares to the NRX 902 and/or the CNQ 902 in sensitivity and action.

Re: Steez A II Tws

I just picked up the new 23 Steez AII and the 21 Steez A HLC from JLS. I was surprised at the big difference between the spools. I did not realize that Magforce Z and Mag-Z were not necessarily the same thing. Granted the HLC spools is 36mm and the others are 34, the inductor sits much lower and has...

Re: How do you set up your Alphas SV TW

I went a different way. I put 45yds of 16lb fluoro and put it on a jig rod I use for skipping 3/8-1/2 jigs. It worked great. Not sure I am going to keep it set up that way, but It worked well for skipping with the SV spool.
