Re: Alphas/pixy spool options

I use my i'ze finesse special down to 1.8g with 8lb jbraid. It can handle way under 3/8oz easily. Wish they made these spools in a ported version. They'd be killer. Thanks for your experience with the spool. I guess I'm looking more for how much weight it can handle on the upper end. I've thrown so...

Re: Alphas/pixy spool options

For what you're doing, I would use the Airy Red spool. It handles form to 1/8 easily as long as you have the right rod, and it handles well above 3/8 with ease. I absolutely love my I'ze spool, but I have 4# Yo-Zuri Hybrid on it and use it on the UL end of the spectrum. I found that I didn't like i...

Those knobs look real nice on that OG 👌
You think I should leave them or look for some of the black megabass hyper corks?
Leave em 👌
I told him before I thought the reel was perfect! Just beautiful!
Thanks guys. I'm very happy with it. The purple is my favorite alphas

Beautiful reel Chris :big grin:  :D
Thank you. Did you finally sell that t3? I've been tempted to buy it but not sure what I'd use it for.

Alphas/pixy spool options

Trying to decide on a spool for a project. Well, the project was complete but the reel was set up more for bfs but I'm moving it to a different rod. Anyway it's an old purple alphas with spacers to accept a pixy spool. It currently has a I'ze finesse Special spool and I really like the way the black...

For what it's worth, I now own both the Bone Voyage 634l and 654m. Phenomenal travel rods. They have that something special with the blanks. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Where did you end up buying them?

All Trinity Rods have been removed from the page. Wonder if that’s it or if they come back.
I noticed that as well. Was trying to look up the specs again. Wonder what's up.

Re: Avail microcast spool

Is the 15 the finicky spool one? I've heard those are difficult. Still a solid buy at $100 if it is in good shape. Might be worth while to get a used deeper Avail spool just to get away from the stock spool if this is the one with the finicky casting. If not then fish it stock for those baits. Its ...

Re: Avail microcast spool

For $100 bucks id keep the 15, its a great little reel. The mgl is a bit easier to dial in and a bit less finicky but its not that big of a difference to justify the cost of a new reel. Either would handle the weight range you're looking to use with the stock spool. But if you're like me curiosity ...

Stock spool will handle that weight range easily, no need for the avail spool.
Do you think the 18 Aldebaran 31 mgl or 51 mgl is worth buying to replace the 15 Aldebaran? I got the 15 Aldebaran for $100 in excellent condition but I keep looking at the mgl.

Re: Best and/or cheapest option for importing JDM gear?

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning to order a Graphiteleader Super Bellezza rod in the near future, I could only find it on Rakuten at the moment. I have been ordering from Digitaka and Plat, but they don't stock this rod. I will look into the Rakuten Global Express to see how well it works. If not...

Re: Leviathan Trinity Rods

Great info, thanks ChrisG! The two Zbones I have show the same blank imperfections, but they're subsurface only (you can see them but the blank feels smooth, where the Trinity blanks look like there's an actual chip you can feel?) It's in line with what I've seen other custom rods built on an Xray ...
