Re: Frogging reel suggestions

Look no further than a Bantam MGL. Rock solid reel made for smoothness and power.

Re: Expride 7' light spinning

May I ask what size reels you guys are strapping to the 7' light plus? 1000 size or 2500 balance it out the best?? Thanks :D I don't have the 7'L+ but I have the 6'8ML Zodias and it balances just a little bit above the lock nut with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500. I'd guess even with L+ power, at 7', you'd ge...

Not a review, but there's a thread over in the Reels subforum.

Re: 2020 Shimano Twin Power FD

I thought it over and decided I couldn't live with the flaw given the price, so I went to Thorne Bros today and they were kind enough to let me exchange it for a Stradic Ci4+ with the same discount. I thanked them generously as they must be tired of hearing from me now. I just couldn't let myself ke...

Zodias 6’8ML Spinning

I got one of these on sale recently, hoping for a decently sensitive rod that my girlfriend can use when we go fishing while I stick to my baitcasters. I picked it up the other day and took it out for some crappie fishing with a bobber and small jig head, as well as some small moving baits. It’s lis...

Re: 2020 Shimano Twin Power FD

I don't understand how so many different versions of higher-end models and multiples of each can have the same problem. Did you try any of the Twin Tower 2500FD models for the noise/roughness? Is there another store that has the same models so you can check for the issue? I went back and played wit...

Re: 2020 Shimano Twin Power FD

Handle on the other side makes no difference. Went to the store and the other 3000 had the same issue, as did the 4000. We tried out a couple Stradic Ci4+s, Stradic FLs, a Stella FJ(?) and an Exsence. The only one that DIDN'T make the rubbing noise based on handle position was the Exsence (and possi...

Re: 2020 Shimano Twin Power FD

If it was after spooling maybe the guy ''at the shop'' put it on the spooling machine and use too much force to hold the spool down. This could have distorted the spool. Even with the spool removed it still makes the sound, and it happened with 2 reels straight out of the box before. So I don't thi...

Re: 2020 Shimano Twin Power FD

Mine finally came in today, and upon first unboxing, it was buttery smooth with no rubbing noise or anything. Then the guy at the shop was kind enough to spool it with some line I brought in. I said thanks, took it home, and put the handle on to mount it on a rod and check the balance. I was disple...

Re: New Twinpower?

I asked about this one a few weeks ago and only one person has responded with feedback. Sounds like it is a nice reel though.

Re: 6'10 Expride and I.

Good explanation, goldrod! More than anything I just wanted to hear your side of the story, because like you said, a lot of people seem to like the rod, but you aren't a big fan, so I wanted to know why. It might be that some people come out of the woodwork to say they felt the same but couldn't ex...

Re: Frog Rod

If you thought it was too soft, I doubt the 7'2H Expride would be stiff enough for you. Just get the 7'3XH... it comes highly recommended for frogging from the homies at TBassin. :) I got mine over BF and yes, it is a fairly stiff rod, but it is impressively balanced with a Bantam. It is my longest...
