Nice...a real contender reel for ice fishing purpose :big grin:
What Ice rods do you like with a casting reel?
Haat Rods make some great ice rods for big fish using both spinning and casting reel seats. Tuned Up also has a Lake Trout Precision with a casting reel seat.

Re: Megabass rods keep breaking while casting

I don't exactly baby my gear, though I do try. I'd be worried about breaking the rod on a trip where I have no backups (like if I only brought 1 spin 1 cast), and those are the trips where I'd be setting it on the ground or resting it on a boulder or something. We'll see- maybe if I can get the righ...

Re: Megabass rods keep breaking while casting

I don't know if I should love or hate this thread. I was looking at buying my first Megabass rod (not quite sure which one yet), but now I'm having some serious doubts. My heart is sad, my wallet is happy...

Re: Smoothest reel

I have a Bantam that's gotten the most work and it has real slight geariness (not bad at all) but my other Bantams are great and they do beat out my Zillion 1000. They are just a little more buttery, I think in part due to the added weight/more solid frame. As for spinning I don't have anything too ...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000

I put 12lb Trilene Sensation on mine for a canoe trip where I wanted to do topwater and subsurface without using braid to leader (focusing on topwater), as I can't trust the T-wing system (broke off 2 jerkbaits now using Double Uni and Improved Albright knots- never had issues with SLX/XT or Bantams...

5'6" MF Ugly Stik with a President 30. Nice enough but not too nice.

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000

Well I finally got the chance to fish the new Zillion. The palming grip with my Zodias is not exactly ergonomic but it's fine for a few hours. I didn't have a lot of the knocking sound in practice because I didn't do a ton of super fast reeling with mostly slack line. Even with a little bit of tens...

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!

That balance is gorgeous. I'm not in the market for a $600 fishing rod right now but if I can snag one at 20-25% off over the winter/early 2022 spring, I might. Shewwww.....

Re: Jerkbait rod

I got the new Zodias 6'10" Medium for jerkbaits (mostly the Rerange 110, some Vision 110 and Flash Pointer 100), hoping the taper is similar to the Expride. The handle is fairly short but it's gonna bump me in the arm no matter what. Bass/walleye/pike season opens tomorrow and I am looking forward t...

Re: Kayak Frog Rod

I fish from a Topwater 120PDL, and the 7'3XH Expride isn't necessarily hard to get hooksets with (maybe a little), but what I have trouble with is accurate casts. It is listed as a fast action but you would need to load it up with something heavier than a 3/4oz frog (typically throwing 1/2-3/4oz) to...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000

I don't understand how someone wouldn't want to know how to disassemble a high end reel. I want the presence of mind knowing I can fix things. This is about like that one turd YouTube channel, "Shimano casts 15ft further so they are the best reel", yeah that's basically the name of it... also doesn...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000

A single data point does not indicate a "trend"/reality/etc. My new Zillions have been in the rain, accidently dropped/retrieved in the water, etc. with no ill effects. Doc Of course. I just get nervous when reading reports like that. I'm always looking out for problems in brand new products that I...
