Re: New Cheaper Spinning Reels

Trying to decide value vs sophistication will drive one crazy. There are unbelievable choices in reels at every price level. But, if you are trying to put together a combo that will last forever and take the experience to the next level, then the current exchange rates are crazy good. The Stella and...

Re: New Cheaper Spinning Reels

The nice thing about the Caldia is the monocoque body and it’s smoothness for the price. It’s hard to beat the value. The 1000 size is really nice.

Stella all day, it balances just like the Certate but is a better reel. My Certates feel more refined than both my FJ and FK Stellas. The drag is smoother too. At half the price of a new Stella... Shimano does better in salt, the only reason I have a few in my rotation. I, too, have Shimano in my s...

Daiwa Certate. Daiwa LUVIAS Airity. Shimano Vanquish.

Picture with my NRX 902 (not +) and Certate 2500. The plus is a little better balanced and will be at the end of the cork.

Re: Help Choosing The Right JDM UL

Each can handle similar weight lures, but the XUL is a bit softer in its feel. I know the Australian seller has a ridiculous price on the 6’7” as it is more popular, hence the price gouge. I have seen the SUL on a site for just over $400. PM me and I’ll share the info. That is still high, but not as...

Re: Help Choosing The Right JDM UL

I think Randy is steering you towards the best of those choices with the Eradicator 6’7” SUL. I have bothe the 6’7” and the 6’ 9” XUL and find the 6’7” Slow Taper Special more versatile. I have the 6’10” Lunakia and for what you have described, I think it might be a bit too rigid. It is outstanding ...

Re: Need help on a new reel

I heard the daiwa tatula was basically a ballistic but without mag seal. How does the fw ballistic compared to the regular one if anyone knows? The FW (Fresh Water) does not have the magseal but has one additional bearing. I also have a US market Ballistic LT and find it just a little less smooth t...

Re: Need help on a new reel

Hey guys, I just picked up a abu eradicator real finesse xul and was wondering whats everyone's recommendation on a spinning reel for it. I'm currently eyeing the shimano soare ci4 500 or the daiwa fw ballistic 1000. I've heard of tunes ups for the daiwa but don't plan on doing so. Any big differen...

Well I am in Canada, and cannot find anything below 3000 size. I read another thread that mentioned smaller sizes getting rare up here at least
Tackle Warehouse has a 2000 in stock. J and H Tackle has a 2500 in stock. A couple of others, too. You should be able to order on line.

Re: Has the BG been replaced?

I was looking to build a second bulletproof combo for river wading/kayak fishing using a BG 2500 with a 7 foot MF Rebellion rod (hey it's pretty). However all the little BGs are gone, and the big boys are dwindling in numbers. However the new aluminium kid on the block Procyon AL is filling some of...

Re: Budget Freshwater setup

Hi All, my 6 year old grandson is ready to go fishing. Gave him a bunch of plastics so according to him he has enough bait. Next step is to find a suitable spinning set-up. You know, the type that if it falls in the drink I won't get upset :) Thanks, Mick Daiwa Exist 2000 on a Steez AGS 7’6” MML (l...

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!

So are the NRX rods discontinued then? The NRX are no longer on Loomis website. Only the + models. There are certainly NRX available, albeit limited, so if you’re looking for a specific model, it might become difficult to obtain. Noticed a “sale” on some website where there is a small discount. Fat...

10-4. Its the titanium guides then. Whatever was on the previous gen are the ones I have issues with. Never had issues with any other models but the nrx and one conquest.
What do you have in spinning gear coming up for sale...?
