Re: To Spiral Or Not to Spiral... what is your preference?
Appearance doesn’t matter. Performance does. Time on the water using the tools will make you a believer of what works or doesn’t. Not an engineer in an office. There are plenty of people who have tried it and don't or can't buy into the concept because of appearances. Those of us who do prefer spir...

Re: To Spiral Or Not to Spiral... what is your preference?
I am quite surprised by this result so far :big grin: ! Those who haven't experienced it can't really comment on it, other than the appearance. Appearance doesn’t matter. Performance does. Re: To Spiral Or Not to Spiral... what is your preference?
All my casting rods I’ve built are spiral. 6RV strippers then your pick of 5.5-4 to the tip. I like the 5’s the best. They cast great. Doesn’t matter the blank. Key to casting distance is the blank loading and unloading properly. I’ve ran these rods using an array of techniques and I don’t notice an...

Re: Point Blank Rods BFS Build
And since the NFC blank was your preferred rod for that technique have you ever experienced anything like what I described on my NFC Otterods build? Thanks in advance Yes.. that's the "something feels different" deal. Happens often with higher end rods and depends on the technique and the...

Re: NFC X-ray 6100-1 DSR
I got WC from 8-15mm just order 5 of each and figure it out. Nothing more nerve wracking then being short a WC. What reel seat did you use Cal? The PTS series is my favorite thinking that rod would look really good with the PMTS since it will be finesse. For my heavy duty rods been using the PULS i...

Re: NFC X-ray 6100-1 DSR
If I have a tight winging check, I pull out the Dremel tool with a small bit and wallow it out a little. It can make all the difference. Yeah, I thought about trying something like that... maybe next time. Of course, knowing me, I'd end up taking off my finger prints or something  I got WC fro...

Re: NFC X-ray 6100-1 DSR
Be careful with NFC ratings they are not consistent throughout lineups. Really watch Lure and Line Ratings as some 4's are Mediums so are Heavy's.

Re: NFC X-ray 6100-1 DSR
Cal just warning you are on a dangerous path!!! The XRays are very good got a couple PB I gotta finish. That said I've been using my own stuff for almost 2 years now. Haven't had one break had a couple seats come loose. My fault, learning experience. I just finished an HM rod finished at 3.4oz for a...

Re: 2021 Shimano Reels
Yeah if you look at the cutaways closely you can see it. They have one bearing in the spool tension knob. One where the pinion goes through the gearbox through the frame. My guess is the infinity drive is just the next version of the Xship technology. I can't wait to get my grubby mitts on one. I wa...

XShip may have been changed out with Infinity drive. If you look closely you still have two bearings supporting the pinion.
Plus it has a drag clicker!! Way cool!!

Re: 2021 Shimano Reels
I need another reel like a hole in my head!! Picked up a Conquest BFS and a Curado 70 MGL in Nov and I "need" a '21 Conquest 101HG. I have RADD sorry guys!!! It's bad!! How are they MGL enabling the DC Antares? I understand the concept but you have to have a rotor to engage that so how muc...

Re: Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS
All I can say is wow. It's an amazing piece of machinery. I can't wait to get it out and in action. Also got a 71 MGL K and I think that will be a heck of a reel. Can't wait to get them broke in!! Will have to figure out which rods suit them and my uses but I'm thinking I'm gonna end up getting a CC...

What are you using spinning or casting gear? That's the first question I have for you.
