Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Tried LH reel for punching. My right wrist was doing all the work casting and hopping the bait and the retrieve. I made the switch back to switching reel quick

Re: Your most versatile rod?
I think there was a guy on here awhile back who used an NRX A rig rod for a bunch of different things. Before I had a lot of rods a Daiwa heartland I bought for swim baits could flip, frog, deep crank, big spinner, big top water etc

Re: Your most versatile rod?
G Loomis GLX 852c jwr nice finesse tip I go down to 8#fc 3/16 no problem with aldebaran 30. Up to 15# with a metainium all kinds of reaction baits and of course jig/worm. I own a Glx 843 and 844 but the 852c can pull off some spinning rod duty. In the summertime with grass 844 all day

Re: Tatula Signature Series
Ok I just compared 6’9” skipping jig rod to g loomis 843 and 844 7’ glx MBR rods the Tatula is more stout than both of them the 844 has a softer action. Thanks for the info the 7’3” heavy is probably going into the shopping cart as a pitching stick

Re: DX702C for inshore?
I don’t know about inshore but I also picked up a Dx702c which I thought would be a great 1/8 -3/16 micro jig rod. My loomis 852jwr is a much better casting rod with these baits used 8 lb FC jdm alderbaran 30 on both. I was fishing smaller paddle tails as well and the rod was much more enjoyable cas...

Re: Tatula Signature Series
Looks like the older generation rods are going on sale here and there. I picked up the 6’9” skipping jig rod feels like a medium heavy plus. I’m thinking small frogs on braid ,swim jig, heavy spinner bait, see how well it handles super spook size top water. Looking forward to some comparisons with th...

Re: What's your favorite rod for cranking mid-depth crankbaits (eg 3xd-5xd)
I’m interested in this thread. The St Croix Avid 7’med heavy moderate crank bait rod has been great for the past 15 years or so. Our 6 month old Labrador retriever jumped on it and snapped it in half. Looking for a replacement hopefully this topic will continue thanks.

Re: NRX+ 883c BJR owners, how versatile is this rod?
The IMX pro 883 is rated for 3/8-3/4. I target cast a little better with my glx 843 old mag bass. I switched over my bladed jig to the IMX pro 883bjr to let the bass inhale the bait a little better. A lot of times I have a bladed jig tied so versatility is not a problem. Maybe you could free up your...

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods
I finally called G. Loomis yesterday to expedite the Glx 844 mbr that I have been fishing jigs on since 2002. The reel seat nut is loose now and the reel jumps loose on good hook sets. I have to say I’m a little worried about the new rod being different. I hope that I like it better. I do really lik...

Re: Punching Rods....Help me find the one.
Ritual Angling JL711H 6.9oz balance and sensitivity action power are great. Has a unfinished unsanded blank kind of like a Dobyns Fury. Guides and rapping look nice Composite cork kind of gets a little hot on the deck when summer fishing mine has a black Curado k which doesn’t help with that either ...

Re: Dobyns Fury Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy Cranking
Had a good day fishing the Dobyns with a lucky Craft flat dr Crankbait and 12 lb seguar fc. Casting hooking and landing some spots at Nacimiento. If on the fence about the rod you won’t have much to lose if you pick up one to try.

Re: Dobyns Fury Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy Cranking
Just picked up one and haven’t fished it much but seems more like a med than med/heavy so far. I got it for a little under retail and I think I will use it more when the grass in my lake is gone
