Re: Recommend a 2nd spinning rod? medium light 7ish' $300-$400
appreciate the responses guys I ended up pulling the trigger on that damn steez, thetackletrap had the only one left in the country I believe so I couldn't say no. I got to fish it for about 20 mins out back and caught a 4 lb peacock bass on a yozuri 3ds 1/4 oz. too early really to say how I feel ab...

Re: Recommend a 2nd spinning rod? medium light 7ish' $300-$400
852 is an awesome option by default because... it's NRX. I don't have one, but got to fish one a bit and it's as advertised. There are new models on the horizon as you mention and you can't even get the old ones anymore at Tackle Warehouse. So I would wait. Whenever somebody brings up the 852 I cou...

Re: Recommend a 2nd spinning rod? medium light 7ish' $300-$400
Save extra 100 and get 76mml steez. One spinning rod to do it all. If you are going down the rabbit hole, you might as well jump all the way. yet another one to research...I'm not against spending more but considering how much I use finesse gear might not be the most practical decision...that's a v...

Re: Recommend a 2nd spinning rod? medium light 7ish' $300-$400
thanks Drake, unfortunately reading this damn forum has me eyeballing an 852 JWR, and a 901. but apparently a new NRX is in the mist? I'm willing to wait a bit...
or stepping down to an IMX/orochi hard to beat that $300 price point value per dollar IMO.

Recommend a 2nd spinning rod? medium light 7ish' $300-$400

I currently have 3 rods a kistler z-bone light medium heavy 7'3 casting rod with a sv tw spooled with 30 lb braid, I use this for my go to rod, jigs, s...

Re: medium vs medium light heavy kistler helium 3, or other option?
I have the zbone LEXF-3MH-70 and I gotta say your going to love it. I use mine for jerkbaits up to an ounce in weight, topwater & as a fluke rod. It has handled largemouth up to 8.75 so far without any problems. The tip is soft enough to keep treble bait hooked fish buttoned up without any problems...

Re: medium vs medium light heavy kistler helium 3, or other option?
It's only 40% off (for $500), but it is a pretty good deal. You're making me think about one... but it's $245 for a Helium3 (30% off $150) which makes me think I should snag one of those instead. Hmm. yeah $330 for the x-ray blank seems like a no brainer from what I've been seeing...I'm pairing it ...

Re: Swim Jig Rod Suggestion
solid, I'll check them out. I just picked up some sweet beavers, I've been mainly using the netbait paca chunks.Cal wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 6:04 pm
You're doing yourself a dis-service if you've not tried a Reaction Innovations Spicy Beaver as a trailer on a swim-jig no matter what size.

Re: Swim Jig Rod Suggestion
I've been throwing swim jigs a ton in sparse and heavy vegetation. Used a number of rods (bank fisherman, I don't always have them all with me): 1/4 and 5/16: Loomis GLX 843 and ZBone 733. 3/8 and 1/2: Dobyns Xtasy 754 and Destroyer FMJ. 3/4: Destroyer Bunker Buster. All of those rods have a fast (...

Re: medium vs medium light heavy kistler helium 3, or other option?
The Light Medium Heavy is the way to go - the tip is still pretty light and you can chuck small stuff down to 1/8 and up to 1/2oz (though 1/2 is about the heaviest I'd want to go). I have thrown 3/4oz poppers on my LMH spinning rod and it works but it's not ideal. Honestly I feel like the Zbone is ...
