Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
Interesting that they have changed the 715 blank, I think that decides it for me too. I haven’t seen many size 5 tipped blanks that people seem to consider good for 1/2oz jigs, so I’ve been using 5.5 tip as spec I’ve been looking for. So I think I’ll get the 736. That will give me the PB731HXF, the ...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
Yeah, I highly suspect that Cal got some PB731MHXF blanks that were mislabeled as "PB731HXF". I have close to 20 custom Point Blank rods made, and this happened to me on 2 of their blanks that I ordered. I had ordered 2 PB731MHXF rods I had ordered from Voodoo Rods several months ago. They were act...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
Measures from the approximate location of the butt… I say approx because the cap is extends roughly a quarter to half an inch beyond the butt so I’m estimating the location of the actual end of blank… At 2” ~15mm 24” ~ 12.5mm 48” ~ 8.5mm Are you 100% positive those measurements are correct? If so, ...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
That PB731MHXF is a great blank too, getting diameter measurements on Cal’s rod would help prove our theory. Where are you guys measuring? Just a few different points on the rod and then I can measure the same spot on the PB731MHXF I have. Like measure as close to the butt as you can and what dista...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
How many RDA grains of power did you come up with when you tested the blank? Did you or can you still measure the butt diameter? I’m curious to compare it to the one I have. TackleTour does not use the RDA method. How are you comparing blanks then? I don’t know anything about the RoD chart jazz. Do...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
I’ve put some more thought into it: When I first posted about how the 701MHF being way more powerful than indicated on the Point Blank website, they’ve changed some of the information after a board member called them - from 525g to 630g RDA - same measurements I got. (Also from 3/4oz to 1.25oz lure...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
The PB731HXF is more of a medium heavy than heavy. I've built on two of these blanks recently. Article is in the works. Hoping to see a RoD deflection chart! Here you go... Note, I've only been able to fish the Phenix K2 736H once and still don't have a good feel for it yet, but the PB731HXF defini...

Re: Phenix K2 715 vs 736
Side note…this build will be competing against a point blank PB731HXF for the title of ultimate jig rod. They will be built identically. The PB731HXF is more of a medium heavy than heavy. I've built on two of these blanks recently. Article is in the works. The K2 736 is a nice blank and very versat...

Phenix K2 715 vs 736
Anyone have experience with both of these blanks? I’m looking for a 3/8-1/2oz bass jig rod blank to build up as “the ultimate jig rod”…I’ve seen people recommend the 715 as a jig rod but I’d prefer a 7’3” blank if I can. Side note…this build will be competing against a point blank PB731HXF for the t...
