BNT2185 turnkey dial spool/sideplate for anteras or calais

appears this part is NLA, and of course, need a replacement.

I looked in all the obvious places (shimano, ereplacement, mikes, etc) but no luck. Any less obvious places? I dont care if it is new or used, i just want my reel working

Re: Discontinued sale of St Croix blanks

unsure what the problem is? unfinished croix blanks look "ugly" because of the special tapers and multiple transitions to get the true extra fast actions. Always been that way and there is no way to get around this (except to add a paint to cover it). Now you can buy any stcroix blank thru rodgeeks ...

that is a pretty big discrepancy on published vs actual weights... hard to make up .35 oz!

Re: Blank comparison

mardukfin: are you measuring any tip angles with your RDA? I assume your RDA powers are defined as the amount of weight to deflect the blank 1/3 the working length of the blank?

thanks!

Re: Line guide replacement

its an old rod, dunno if you need the highest quality repair. Find a replacement guide, some thread, stack of magazines (to put some thread tension on the thread), cardboard box (to cut V notches in for holding the rod while you spin on the guide) and some clear fingernail polish for finish. wrap it...

Re: Give me the lowdown on building handle on carbon tube

agreed on most of the above comments. The only other possible advantage is that it does allow you to get some very fast actions.

However, for 98% of the cases, this will just make the rod heavier than it needs to be.

Re: Shaky head blank suggestions

5s68mxf is a SOLID shakey head blank. I extend mine about 4" to make a true 7'. Very lightweight and has the XF tip that you want for feeling the bite and shaking. The rod also has some backbone to pull the fish in (even in weeds). I use it a lot of jig worming too (which is a popular method this pa...

Re: Lightest Rod possible

the balance vs weight argument is still around? :) I still call BS on it.

However, i dont think anyone will argue that you should build as light as you can then it wont take as much weight to "balance"

Re: Lightest Rod possible

glad to see some guys weighing components and realizing where you can loose weight the easiest. Seats, handles and grips. A split ECSM seat is still the lightest casting setup out there. the advice on the lightest reel is also solid. It is much easier to loose weight cost effectively in a blank by p...
