Re: Reel Help
The alphas would be a good match, its a pretty good all around reel. My one complaint as a jig reel would be its slow line pick up rate. I like to get the jig back fast for the next pitch. Also I have been outrun many times by fish coming at the boat. You didnt say how big the baits would be but the...

Re: NEW Daiwa Alphas
. Is the Duralumin supposed to be a lighter aluminum alloy? Anyone buy one yet? This stuff they call Duralumin is not the same thing that they used to build airplanes with long ago. The Daiwa Duralumin is a composite almost like a plastic. The regular alphas frame is not the same material as the sp...

Re: which pixy do you like best?
Magnesium can not be anodized. The yellow's paint scratches very easy for some reason. I believe there is a problem with the paint it seems soft. Even the area where my thumb goes has worn pretty badly.[/quote Ummmm...yes it can and it is on the red Pixy. The yellow "for some reason" scratches easi...

Re: which pixy do you like best?
Havent noticed any difference between the two performance wise. The red is really dull and doesnt shine at all. I find it ugly, to each his own. The red is painted not anodized like the post above states. Magnesium can not be anodized. The paint on this reel is tough. The yellow's paint scratches ve...

Re: Maximum bait for Daiwa Alphas/Sol?
Come to think about it since all the parts are replacable like the post above mentioned. It doesnt really matter as long as the reel doesnt wear out in a few months.

Re: Maximum bait for Daiwa Alphas/Sol?
Hmmm my thinking here goes that a bigger reel will just plain have bigger stronger parts. How about this for you engineer types a small baitcaster would have a 1/8 thick gear while a larger baitcaster would have a 1/4 inch thick gear. Now wouldnt a strong load applied to this smaller 1/8 gear cause ...

Re: Maximum bait for Daiwa Alphas/Sol?
Keep throwing and reeling in a bait with to much resistance and your alphas is gona be one loose goose. This kind of a abuse will wear out the internal moving parts quickly they are not beefy enough for some type of baits. Id say baits in the 2oz range are the max for bass type low profile bait cast...
