Re: Help! Calais 200DC not making whining sound/Brake not working
I didn't take the Digital Control mechanism apart. I just replaced the Main gear and pinion gear. I did find a tiny gold looking ring maybe a small washer or spacer and I didnt know where it came from. I cleaned the light sensor with a qtip and some alcohol. I also carefully cleaned the coils with a...

Help! Calais 200DC not making whining sound/Brake not working
I took apart my Calais 200DC to replace main gear and pinion gear. It is super smooth now but after I took it outside to test it the first two cast it made the whining sound and was working perfectly. Now it has stopped making the noise when I cast and the brake system is not working. Tried to clean...

Re: ABU Gearing question...
I was wondering if you could upgrade the mgx gears to something that was more durable. So you have to get gen3 winch gears with infini spool design and it fits perfect?

Re: Daiwa Blazon?
Steez is ultra smooth and I believe the clutch system is improved which will protect it from the dreaded steez "grinding". Two of my steez reels were never the same after I accidentally engaged the reel at end of cast. Blazon is a nice reel also. Have not used anything since it looks like antartica ...

Re: Calais 200DC smoothing out?
Yeah the pinion bearing and pinion have always been an issue on reels after awhile it seems. Just hope I don't need to replace anything else besides the set of gears I ordered. So your saying that replacing gears will tighten this tolerance and no need to replace bearing?

Re: Calais 200DC smoothing out?
Yeah I did some serious ripping and cranking with this reel and it probably caused some wear. It is not bad but I want this reel to be super smooth. I ordered both pinion and main gear for $30. Should work well. I read the spool bearings on the Calais DC are dry bearings or greaseless bearings..... ...

Re: Calais 200DC smoothing out?
Thanks for the info! I never understood the antireverse bearing area and how to service.. Never been able to get one out. I am worried I would bend something ect. I figured buying new gears would help but I might need to get someone on here to take a look at it. I want to keep that reel in top shape...

Re: Calais 200DC smoothing out?
I have bought main gear and pinion for TDZ that engaged when I cast that never was right again. I wasted money on those parts and never got it back on ebay when I sold it. Dont want to replace if not neccessary. I figured someone on here would know why reel in not smooth anymore. Yes you are correct...

Re: Customs fees?
So you don't think I will get a bill in the mail then regarding the letter attached to the package for $86.21. I am getting everything shipped EMS so that is the way to go I think. It goes to USPS so not sure if they are supposed to collect or not.
Still very confused.....

Calais 200DC smoothing out?
I have had a Calais 200DC for 4 years and it is a great reel but not as smooth as it was. Would replacing the main/drive gear and pinion gear remedy this? I sent it in to Shimano last year for service and tried to get them to put in new gears but I don't think they did. I used the "free service" cou...

Re: Customs fees?
Yeah I think I got lucky. Don't understand why I would have to pay customs fees on fishing gear. Anyway I felt like I did get away with that the other day. hope they don't hit me up for my Rakuten order. Thanks for the info

Customs fees?
I ordered 3 reels with PLAT and they shipped them EMS. Customs had them for about 15 days but it was because of the holidays. I haven't ever seen this before but I bought steez SV, pixy, and Blazon so it was over $800. The package I picked up at post office cause I missed delivery. The package had a...
