Re: Shimano Fighting Star Mechanism
Given the patent is 21 years old and the chinese have never seen a patent that couldn't be violated, why not have some company bring this feature back in a series of reels for a rock bottom price of say, $20.00? Should be an easy project to dovetail in with your bulletproof aluminum jon boat.

Re: YEN Continues Dropping
"So keep on telling the world how great JDM is because all you are doing is driving the prices up and up and up." Just keep buying those crap rods for $20.00 and keep the chinese in business. However, you will not divulge what the rods are called and where you get them for fear there is going to be ...

Re: Top 3 bearings
Forgive me if I have a problem believing something just because THAT website says it's true. You say you've been doing this for awhile and you have a problem with marketing hype but you, obviously, have sucked this down. If you can't see that this is the same, nothing anyone will say is going to hel...

Re: Top 3 bearings
I am well aware that Boca Bearings is not a manufacturer but no where on your link of a past discussion did anyone admit to asking the question and directing it at the source, Boca Bearing. I am sure others have put one and one together and come up with the same speculation and it is just that, unti...

Re: Top 3 bearings
"The Chinese would not stay in business long if their products did not measure up to international industrial standards. And they must be doing something right if just about every bearing company in the world is buying from them." You made a huge assumption here. Much of the world could not care les...

Re: Top 3 bearings
Well, let me be the first to give a dissenting opinion. If you believe that products made in China, especially a commodity product, like bearings, are better, please buy them and keep their economy moving. However, to believe they are the equivalent to ABEC standards, I will not comment because it w...

Re: Livre handle review???
Great handles. One of the best places for manufacturers to cut costs are with the handles. Easy to reduce bearings, use cheap knobs and show zero style in casting the handles. Livre handles are light and strong since they are machined from billet material. High end knobs with bearings. Try the C/BF ...

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
I'm a little confused. Your Morrum struggled with light baits until you tricked it out with Avail parts. Now, it works better with light baits. I add some Avail parts to an Aldebaran and it performs better but it's pointless to discuss the results? Sorry, I will need to get a TT member from Canada t...

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
The magnets in the Avail system do take some serious tweaking, depending on your baits and casting style. Even when you determine how many, you can play with polarity combinations and position along the circumference of the magnet holder. My casting is almost always small baits and to get the distan...

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
It's interesting to hear comments like these regarding the Aldebaran. I have been using one now for a couple of years and 1/16 oz baits are a piece of cake. Specifically, F5 Rapalas are great baits for smallmouth and spring can bring some wind that can create problems but the Aldebaran performs beau...

Re: seaguar tatsu
Agree with all your points. One other factor might be the size of the line your application calls for. The great majority of my fishing is finesse or ultralight, so 4 pound test lines are perfect. I never miss a chance to try a new line, if it looks like it has characteristics that fit my style. Thi...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Finesse Custom or Megabass Zonda68
Watched your video, very nice. So, what is you assessment of where the state of bait finesse reels is today? What can be improved and more importantly, the best reel/spool for those wanting to use 4kg line or below?

Re: seaguar tatsu
Thanks for the link but that series of tests is from 2007 and Tatsu was not part of the testing. Wow, this place has a simple search engine? I will need to remember that the next time someone else asks for umpteenth time about bearing sizes or best lube. This link does have some numbers for Tatsu bu...

Re: seaguar tatsu
Yes, stretch can be measured, with proper equipment and testing procedures, not someone pulling on a little fish or a snag. If we assume you are correct and Shooter had the least stretch, the question is then, what was the difference and was it significant. I am confident that line being the commodi...

Re: seaguar tatsu
All fluorocarbons stretch, it's the nature of the beast. To what degree is a purely subjective observation with no basis in fact. My opinion is Tatsu exhibits as little stretch as any of the current high end choices.
