Re: Anyone have any feedback on Avail shallow spools?

I using usually 12-14lb flouro on mine right now, even though it doesnt hold that much line it has'nt been a issue.but I would'nt use braid on these spools, since they were designed for finesse fishing with light line you wouldn;t want to damage the spool. a member on the board told me he was using 1...

Re: Anyone have any feedback on Avail shallow spools?

Do you think is possible to fish with 14-16lb nylon or 30-40lb braided line (with fluoro tip) with the Avail Microcast spools? for light pitching applications and fine tuning the drag..

I've just bought it for a 1501XT.. :-k

Re: ENTRY LEVEL

For me, they were the "old" Scorpion 1001 and the Alphas 103L. But later I fell in love with the TD-Z series.. ;)

Now, I think that a used TD-Z/Pixy or a Scorpion 1001XT/Curado51E are very nice choices and are nearly at the same level as some $400-500 actual reels :D

Re: outdated legendary tackle

"Destruction" Mmmmm..... I think that the older Megabass Orochi Huge Contact rods are far nicer and more impressive (components, details, looking, design..) than actual X4 o Black Jungle models.. Same for older Evoluzion models Vs. newer ones.. I like the newer ones, they're often lighter or better...

Re: Generations of MB Bearing Down

As far as I know there are 5 generations, the first one had a full grip and was constructed using hi800x blank, then there was the one reviewed here at TT years ago followed be the THP model using hi10x blank. The phase 3 and X7 are the two current variants. Hope this helps. The Hi800X one is from ...

Re: Generations of MB Bearing Down

There is also the discontinued Destroyer Phase II - Bearing Down Type-S (6'2", 1/4-1oz)

and, I'm pretty sure, some Megabass Carrozzeria's limited editions of the 6'6" Phase II model..

Re: Reel for my first Megabass rod

the Daiwa bbs has a fixed inductor so it isn't going to get the distance you may want (also the TT review of it was not in favor of the reel :?) I did see the TT review on the BBS, which kind of turned me off on it. Is the TDZ BBS the same frame as a TD-Z 103/105H? I think that light swimbaits (lik...

Re: Reel for my first Megabass rod

I don't think that a casting reel can correct the balance of a rod...the reel's center of gravity is in your hand, not distant from the point where you hold it.. so i prefer the lightest appropriate reel available ;) And a Revo Winch Gen3 or a Zillion J-Dream? ;) despite the review, I also think tha...

Re: What to expect for 2014

I hope to see: Scorpion 1001XT 5 (or a Chronarch 51E5) or a newer model Steez 100ML (5.7:1 with brass gears or a new small 6.5-7oz Daiwa ( sharing TD-Z/Steez spools) =P~ ..so..something light and small BUT with versatile 5.5 - 5.7:1 BRASS GEARS and a spool able to long-cast 1/4-1oz and collect 110yd...

Re: Which rod for my Conquest 101?

I would go for a Deps Super Border. Might be difficult to source, but it does worth the trouble. Fantastic rod. I've fished with it and I absolutely don't think that the Super Border may be ok for cranks, jerkbaits and spoons , it's a rod for fishing jig & worms in heavy cover and not designed to f...

Re: X7 JIG ROD ?

Rekkai is too short for sure , I'm looking for 7 foot or bigger. Just a personal thing . LOL I have the AM 7'2" in the THP model , sweet rod but just something about the telescoping handle makes it feel , funny , I loved it up until I handled some of the newer rods , ok ;) :D I love my AM72 =P~ .. ...

Re: X7 JIG ROD ?

Hi Bruce! :D

Super Rekkai!? Too short?

I've not handled it, but I've had the phase 2 Rekkai and was perfect for 1/4 to 1/2 jigs, maybe also 3/4..and the "old" AM 7'2" was perfect too..

I'd go for a F6/F7-power rod for 1/2oz jigs in cover ;)
