Re: Better than the G Loomis NRX .
I think at the level/price range you are just really splitting hairs as far quality, sensitivity, etc. If you want an off the shelf rod, I'd just pick the one that has the features you like/want best. Otherwise, for that kind of money, I would have custom rod built to meet your exact specs. This wou...

Re: Is Mike Iaconelli a mastermind?
When we was with Daiwa, word on the street was he was heavily involved in the Steez rod and reel lineup. If this was true, I wonder why in most footage of him fishing, he had a L&T rod in his hand.  Probably liked the L&T better. The Steez rods have some nice components, but the blanks s...

Re: Is Mike Iaconelli a mastermind?
Yeah, I don't have anything for or against him.. I know he isn't an engineer. I've got some buddies that know him from his FLW days... They say he did a lot of testing/input of prototypes with the Steez line up at Daiwa. I just thought it was an interesting topic to kick around. It does seem like he...

Is Mike Iaconelli a mastermind?
When we was with Daiwa, word on the street was he was heavily involved in the Steez rod and reel lineup. He even developed a signature rod series with them. So, now he is with Abu and they come out with a Steez type rod and reel lineup with the MGX. Now, it's no Steez killer, but it does share a sim...

Re: Loomis QC continued....
Considering the qc issues we've become familiar with, and taking cost into account, I'd look into a nice jdm stick or a custom.. The nrx blanks are nice, but for the price you can do much better imo. This. It is a Loomis in name only. For that kind of money, there is no way I'd limit myse...
Re: worth it?
Don't beat yourself up... majorcraft makes some real nice rods. I've owned a few over the years and really like them. They're excellent for the money.

Re: Shimano Citca or Dawia Tierra?
You can go with last years Citica at $79, or this years model on sale at Kittery Trading Post for $103 + 30 MIR so $73 essentially... or a Curado G for $127 + 30 MIR so $97. Or Chronarch E @ $159 + 30 MIR so $129... :) Do you have a link for the Chronarch E @ $159? I can't find that on their site.

If so, it it one per knob?

I'd bet that they are lighter and therefore that is why they used them on the Steez. The old Fuego knobs are my favorite.

Re: Powell 6'8" Med Hvy EF 683C
The Powell 683 is almost legendary at its ability to fish just about anything. The 6'9'' Zillion is a beast and fishes a lot more like a heavy powered rods vs a med-heavy. Give the Powell a shot, I think you'll be very pleased with it.

Close quarters I use a couple old Falcon Expert 6' M and 6' MH changed over to Pistol grips.
