Re: Steez Gear Mods

Still trying to figure out what brass gears would fit in my Steez A, I would like to be able to use a brass pinion too instead of the stock Steez A pinion the OG zillion brass main gear fits but have to stay with the Steez A pinion due to the way its machined and where the slot for the yoke is. So ...

Re: STEEZING

Steez A crazy cranker for high resistance baits. its a 5.3:1 ratio. The original models have weaker magnets than the T wing models . you could add the red and black TN tamiki steez to the collectables sought after list I don't think there is any model not sought after as there is those that dream ab...

Re: Steez A TW - Worth it?

Yes Yes Yes Yes and Yes Steez A all the way. I have 3 of them and they are my most used reels. I have a Steez SV TW as well and its excellent and I have no issues using it in saltwater. its actually marketed as salt water ok and full of corrosion resistant bearings. just don't scratch the paint to b...

Re: Spinning Reel Drag tuning

problem with felt is it gets chewed out easily on the cage design of the metal washers in shimano spinners and some of the new lt Daiwas. greased carbontex works very well even on fine drag settings and doesn't deform and chew out on the cage.

Re: Pre service reels and question for Slaz

Definitely agree with you Andrew on pre servicing. I haven't come across to many reels that have adequate grease on the gears from new, apart from Penn reels which seem to have to much of that blue grease in them. Price point doesn't matter either weather its a Stradic or a Stella or Tatula or a Ste...

Re: Ss sv spool options

A good fix for the ss sv spool is to buy the rays spool inductor kit and swap the inductor on the spool . It transforms the casting of the spool . Makes it a bit wilder but gets great distance.

Re: Tat Elite vs Zillion SV

If purchasing a new daiwa and wish to fish salt or dirty water steer clear of full shaft spools that don't have a bearing mounted on the spool shaft. That design has an inherent flaw that allows water to enter the reels gearbox along the spool shaft requiring continued maintenance as the pinion bear...

Re: Isn't it crazy that some Daiwa platforms are almost 20y old and still in production?

Agree 100 percent about the watered down looks of Daiwa reels now. Mainly silver, black, grey in color. Really wish there were some limited releases of reels with neat colors like the days of old. Why not re-work that ITO green paint in somewhere? What about another white reel or yellow? They do lim...

Re: Steez Gear Mods

thanks hoohoorjoo and barramaniac, now it seems i have the only stock option :( In respect of SH version am i right that any of the TD Zillions (not only TD Z) with the same gear ratio will fit to the steez or direct swap of pinion and main gear with different gear ratio will work? does steez 6.3 s...

Re: Steez Gear Mods

why not to go with 6.3 ratio from TD Z? You can use the brass gears from an old red Fuego unfortunately i did not find parts for it on plat. what about TD Zillion PE Special? it looks like they have in stock Main Drive Gear on plat but do not have pinion. It has the same gear ratio as a steez 103HL...

Re: Steez Gear Mods

I have also managed to use original zillion gears in a Steez A but have to use the Steez A pinion, Only did it to see if it could be done as I have no issues with the durability of the new generation G1 Alloy gears and my Steez A's are used on saltwater fish.
