Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

They do appear to be narrower. You can see that the spacers in the Alphas that kind of stick a bit from the frame. They appear to be tapered to make the difference stand out less.

The Steez is an entirely new frame and it is narrower for sure....

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Plat has a video up on it as well and it certainly appears to be the same frame. Just large orange spacers to adapt the 30mm spool

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

There is a new video up on YouTube from Plat with the Steez CT and a Steez TW in 5.3 ratio.

At one point the two are side by side and one can see how much smaller the CT truly is.

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Interesting question that I really didn't think to ask....

I would guess the CT with the smaller spool is considered to be more of a specialized reel for smaller presentations, therefore I am guessing the Steez will remain in the lineup....

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

The 4th Project T video is up on YouTube. More video of Steez CT with the pros giving their thoughts on the reel.
According to sources the reel will be available in the US Market and will be introduced at the Classic in March.

Re: ZPi Tatula SV spool

You are Welcome

I can't wait to try out the M version but the weather here is turning bad again and it may be a while before I get to try it out for real. I may get it spooled up for testing sooner but probably not this weekend with several inches of snow coming.

Re: What rod caught you the most fish in 2018?

Daiwa Tatula Elite 7 ft M/MH AGS with Steez SV TW or Tatula SV. It also caught 30 in 2019 so far. Lol This is such an underrated rod. I have two and have tried many Tatula Elite models this and Ish's Frog rod stands out for me. Oh and Fieders Hair Jig/Neko rod. But I saw a TackleWarehouse video of ...

Re: ZPi Tatula SV spool

Just a quick update.

I got the M version of the spool today and it weighs 10.44 grams compared to 10.55 for the PG. I didn't spool it up yet but expect the weight difference to be more significant because it holds less line.

I wish them well with the latest change to their business plan...but won't be at all interested in their rods and reels.

Re: ZPI Reel?

Are they really getting out of the accessory market for sure, or could it be a translation misinterpretation?..

Re: Daiwa Zillion Rods

I saw a few of the Kage rods recently at Watsons Marine in Tennessee. I really didn't think they were that different from the new Tatula rods with the long cork grips. I was not particularly impressed, if I were looking for a rod that resembles the zillion series I would get a Cronos. I have a 7-3 M...

Re: Need some info

You can get a Rays studio spool for either of your reels.

Or buy a Tatula SV and and one of the new ZPI spools, probably the M version, and you will have the best Tatula spool available.

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

I measured some of the reel dimensions from pictures and scaled them to dimensions of a Steez SV TW.

It appears that the new ct will be approximately 4 to 5 mm narrower overall width from sideplate to the tip of the handle knobs.
The t wing also appears to be 4 mm narrower.
