Re: Teflon Tape on spool

Yup. I used some on my Conquest 51S. I spooled straight 10lb Power Pro, and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Re: What's your rod lineup for this year

How do the 872, Wind Buster, and 7'3 Victory compare? I find this very interesting as each of these rods has a different personality than the other. They are similar, but uniquely different. The 872 is by far one of the best spinning rods i have fished with - truly. The Wind Buster is beautiful, li...

Re: Got a Megabass TD Ito help me validate my buy!

I had 2 TD-Ito's back several years ago, but eventually sold them. I regret getting rid of them all the time! I will get around to buying at least one more again sometime soon... I think they are the best looking reel I have ever seen. I used mine with 6.3 aluminum gears from a steez, some boca spo...

Re: Return of the Enthusiasm : Shimano Japan's Calcutta Conquest DC

Totally agree with the previous comments. One of your best write-ups, the "Dark Lord" strikes again. Ordered the 101HG on Monday, delivered today and WOW! I have relatively small hands and it is a perfect fit. Now I have "bookends"; the OG 101DC (my primary cranking reel) and its current "descendan...

Re: Daiwa Rebellion Heavy Regular, Spinning?

Southwestern, Ontario. So Grand River, Maitland, Saugeen. Really amazing water, couldn't ask for more, not huge to rivers but for the most part well maintained and protected. However many stretches are ignored and those places are where I plan on heading. I'll be picking up a CK1 Venture next month...

Re: Daiwa Rebellion Heavy Regular, Spinning?

It's lighter than anything I have used, really it is my first rod in this price range. I river fish from my kayak and wading I will face big smallies, pike, and possibly muskie. My goal with the setups is to have 2 accurate spinning rigs that allow for a variety of presentations. The Rebellion seri...

I think, so long as you realize this really isn't the same bait, i.e. the original Jack Hammer with a clear blade, and don't expect it to have the same vibration, you're ok.
And that different bait is exactly what I am looking for, as our waters are cold as heck after ice out.

I was really happy to see your review on what's been a semi-polarizing bait to a few. That said, I purchased two this morning. 8-)

I'm assuming you are using a plastic trailer as well. That said, a stinger treble hook may help.

Nice looking baits Loafer! Will those be primarily for pike fishing?
Hello, Friend!
Yeap. I'll hope the pikes want to eat this beauty :)
Howdy!

I have a feeling the pike will annihilate those lures, as they definitely would on this side of the globe. 8-)
