Re: JDM Spinning Reel Advise
I received my Shimano Excence BB 3000 recently. Arrived within a week from placing the order. The extra shipping charges, taxes and dutyy fees ended up being around 40% of the value of the item itself. First impressions: solid built Aluminum reel, looks like small and slightly heavy which I like. Ma...

Re: Spinning Rod for Crankbaits
The COMPOSITE Series seems what I need. How do your composite rods feel when cranking? Are they relatively light, powerful....? How do they respond and handle a fish?robchik04 wrote:...Phenix rods makes a Graphite/glass composite spinning rod for cranking. ...
I've got casting models and love them.
Thanks

Re: Spinning Rod for Crankbaits
Thanks a lot Curls,
I was planning to go to Long Sault by the beginning of May so for sure I'll continue to drive to PADDLETALES. From what I saw on the webpage, it seems to be a nice store with a wide line of products.

Spinning Rod for Crankbaits
Hi, Looking to add one more spinning rod to my arsenal for throwing medium diving crankbaits at around 0.5 oz. Last years I really neglected this technique, got rid of most of my hardbaits (except some jerkbaits and surface ones)and some rods and now I want to reallocate some time and money for cran...

Re: JDM Spinning Reel Advise
I tried to have some email exchanges with plat and bass.jp. Both have big delays in answering back. However in order to stay in my budget I was about to buy a Exsence BB3000 (made in Malaysia) from bass.jp as they are less expensive and the shipping is or should be free. So the bass.jp guy sent me t...

Re: Kistler KLX rods ....anyone???
Hi guys and a Happy Easter for the ones who celebrate it! I recently bought a KLX MH 7' MF Multi Technique rod and while waiting to go out and test it in order to share my 2 cents, I noticed Kistler came out with more rods (technique specific) in their spinning line. Now they have a drop-shot finess...

Re: JDM Spinning Reel Advise
Vinnie, you gave me some serious literature homework to do. Wide selection of reels but the google translation really sucks. Is there any significant difference in terms of material, built quality, tolerances and performances between a Biomaster and a Stradic? Even though found on the Japanese marke...

Re: JDM Spinning Reel Advise
Great! thanks again! Do you remember by any chance how much was the shipping (assuming you bought it from japan shipped to the us)?
Any other opinions? I am pretty much intrigued by the Exsence too!

Re: JDM Spinning Reel Advise
Thanks Lordhell for the first reply on this topic. Yes, this is what I noticed - it seems a solid reel. How did you feel the drag in terms of inertia, smoothness and power? Also, if you had the chance to handle bigger fish, how did the real react? * Thanks to the moderator which moved the thread fro...

JDM Spinning Reel Advise
Looking for a new reel to pair it with a 7' MH KLX spinning rod. It seems like this particular Kistler rod needs a slightly heavier reel to balance ( a 3000 Daiwa or a 4000 Shimano). I tried a 2500 Tierra and a 3000 Penn Sargus at home and the rod is still a bit tip heavy. So, while roaming around t...

SetTheHook Softbaits
During a sale event at my local SAIL store, I came across a new line of soft plastics which caught my eye. They are made by Set The Hook and they look great. At a first glance I thought they are some jackal or other japanese company, but i was surprised to see they are Canadian. The colors are simply...

Re: Fitzgerald Rods
Yes, I know and you are correct. I replied because you were questioning what blanks they use, besides of who's rolling them, heat-treat them and put them together. So at least they give you a clue material-wise. As material, I consider Toray being also a measure of quality same as....Fuji, let's say...

Re: Fitzgerald Rods
I'm with you, but nobody else in this price range lists what blanks they use. If you want a production rod and want to know what blank it is you only have a few options (Lami, Loomis, St. Croix, some Kistler). Add 13FISHING on the list. OMEN/ENVY - Toray 30/40. And the Omen is 50% less than Fitzger...

Re: Fenwick Aetos rods: anyone fished one yet?
As I mentioned in a different topic, I saw this Aetos rods in a store and was pretty impressed with the feeling. Super-light and seems to be very sensitive. The only question mark is regarding the guides. I've owned other Fenwick before and remember one of them "Canadian Methods" use to have like si...
