Re: PLEASE HELP. DID I SCREW UP???
I put some Daiwa oil in some Shimanos, and they gunked up badly. However, I had only to clean the bearings. No damage was done.

I have watched for years, though I have to keep reminding myself that just about all the men are hardened criminals who dam well deserve whatever happens to them. Now Meadow, on the other hand . . .

Re: looking to get baitcasters (not too expensive though)
I would suggest a magnet control reel, maybe the $150 Abu Revo SX (the $99 Revo is NOT magnet control) or the $140 Daiwa Advantage 153HST. I think mangetic is best when you are learning. I have used BC for years, and I still like magnets best. Someday, maybe a digital control, as they may get cheape...

Any of the Garmin 76 series are waterproof and FLOAT. That could be useful . . .

Re: Baseball Walk up song?
What he said. Great walk up tune. One of the girls on the UT softball team used that one. (Not a big fan of girls softball, but I HAD to go see Cat Osterman at least once. Statistically a more dominant athlete than Vince Young)venomous grin wrote:hendrix, voodoo child..like old hollywood himself

Re: Fluorocarbon Showdown
BASSMAN is right on with his comments on the correct comparison being breaking strength/area. This gives the dimensionally correct property of pounds per square inch (English units). He also correct that a 2 lb line may exhibit a higher psi value than a 100 lb line of the same material. This is due ...

Re: Abu Revo where did they cut costs?
I'm a big fan of the the "Mom & Pop" shops, but I admit I often buy from the "Big Boys." Why? Not price. The price is not usually much different, and as has been mentioned, for the same price, Mom & Pop usually make less than the Big Boys, big waterfall included. So, why do I sometimes buy from the ...

Re: Effect of reel handle length on rate of retrieve
What problem was concretely preset? - "Effect of reel handle length on rate of retrieve". The specific answer to it is alone: Path1 = Path4 x R1 x K / R4 Not so? The problem was not completely stated. An answer can be given only when the problem is fully defined. Given all else the same, gear ratio...

Re: Overbranding ruining reputations?
IMO Vanish is crap, no CRAP, C-R-A-P. And there are way too many types of Stren to pick from too. The brand that I REALLY hate seeing on the wrong stuff is Browning. John Moses Browning was not only a genius, he was a patriot. Browning still makes nice guns, albeit some weird ones as well, that they...

Re: Effect of reel handle length on rate of retrieve
I wonder if I should jump into this shootin' match. -Handle length does matter. -It is true that ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, one turn of the handle brings in the same amount of line. -In general one can turn a shorter handle faster (If you don't believe it, hold your forearm fixed and "spin" as in turning...

Scot,
Congrats on caring about some unfortunate kid you don't know and trading in the better reel because of it. May your tribe increase! And if there is Karma, you just added to your balance on the plus side!

Re: There Can Be Only One......Favorite
For some people who are trying to quit an addiction it helps to make yourself accountable to someone else. You will tell them if you are thinking about backsliding, and certainly after the fact if you do. Or, buy the uber combo now and whenever you want a cig go fondle the outfit instead, or refuse ...

Re: WaveCast System Revolutionizes Spin Fishing
Geez guys, why all the theories? Some people are going to buy them, and we will know soon enough how well they work. If they work well, great. If they don't, they will soon be collector's items and some will want one anyway. Who was the first guy to discover rigging a whacky worm, and what did peopl...
