If I have to choose, I'd say anything with fins on it .

Re: Tenkara
I started Tenkara this season. I have a 12' Iwana with the 9'3" conversion handle, a 12' Yamame, both from Tenkara USA, and a Nissin Zerosum 360 7/3. The TUSA rods are good, but I'd say the Nissin is in a different league, totally flawless, which as a JDM rod is to be expected. It's lighter, better ...

My Latest New Toy
Picked up my latest custom rod a few days ago. It's another ultralight, built on a custom Harrison 3wt fly blank, only 25 of which were made for my previous employers. It's 6'6", and for a spinning rod soft actioned, in fly terms it'd be classed as a full flex. The handle is 16.25" overall and 1"dia...

Re: your fastest reel?
I have a right handed eon that my body wanted me to sell because its right handed and he uses left handed reels, I've never see a reel free spool for this long and it casted right can be spooled with ease , I tried to find info on it but had little luck I just finished an article on the EON for the...

Re: your fastest reel?
When I bought it I think I paid around £200 GBP, retail on this side of the pond was around £325, but a buddy owned a tackle store, so I saved a bit .fishingandfords wrote:How much was it?

Re: your fastest reel?
Has to be my Shimano Core 51Mg7 with a Yumeya BFS Ultralight Mg alloy spool and Boca abec7 ceramic berings. The only other that comes close is my ABU Eon Pro, incredibly fast but hell to control. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p115/skinhead62/Fish/Lullington1601131stVolkey1lb10ozTTedit_zpsa028c...

The smallest are a mix of Snap Beans, Rebel Tad Fry and Pesky Fry. They have amazingly tight wiggles.SmallieSmasher wrote:What are those little crankbaits in your tackle box! I love the look of them!

Re: Cast resin lures
They look really great, but having no clue about resin technique... Don't they need weighting? Yes they do, and that isn't my strong suit. I use self adhesive window lead externally, which I can add / remove at will. I'm also still playing with line tie positions in the hope that I can find one tha...

MC Volkey / Core, tested and almost christened
Went out for a couple of hours to test my MC Volkey and upgraded Core 51Mg7. It was the first outing for the combo, my first use of mono on a baitcaster and my first visit to a new water, a 2 acre lake reported to hold good perch. First off, the rod and reel feel absolutely perfectly balanced in the...

Re: Cast resin lures
That one didn't go as hoped. Have one Slider cast that does what I wanted, but yet to catch on it due to not being able to fish as all the waters are in flood. Have cast a few more that are yet to get wet and finished another two an hour ago, including a BellyUp Slider with re-positioned line tie an...

Re: Ross vs. Hardy
I worked for an ex managing director of House of Hardy. Some reels marked Made in England were a pparently purely assembled in England by a 3rd party engineering firm, from parts sourced in Korea. If that was the case, go for the Ross. A few years ago one of my customers brought a £600 Hardy rod in ...
