Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod

I have both the Conquest 842s and 842c. LOVE both of these. Use the spinning for weightless senkos, Ned rigs and will, but don’t like it, drop shot. The casting is used for jerkbaits, tubes, light Texas rigs and small crank baits. The 842s has slightly more power than an NRX 822 syr. Given the NRX ...

Re: 19 Certate vs 21 (new) Exsence

I would go off of what rod I would pairing the reel up with. Certate is quite a bit heavier. The Certate is a awesome reel but I would want to try the new Exsence myself. My Certates (2500) weigh in at just over 7oz. My 17 Exsences (C3000M Japanese versions) weigh exactly 7oz. Apparently, the new E...

Re: New Megabass Destroyers

The P5 Bait Finesse is absolutely slower in action and has a little less power than the Carbon Head Hein. The P5 Bait Finesse will handle those 1/8 oz jigs with a small trailer just fine. It's a very versatile rod in general and does a great job with a range of lighter treble baits and even some of...

Re: Spinning Reel with AntiReverse Switch

The Daysprout Abu Cardinals do :D That is a very classic choice! That reel will outlive you. I just got a couple of C3s in for service, nobody has cracked them open in nearly 40 years to my knowledge. They still work fine, the owner just wanted them refreshed. Agreed sir. I know the originals very ...

Re: which spinning reel if someone else paid for it?

Either Daiwa Exist or Shimano Stella. Take your pick. Both are excellent reels. Agreed. I have five Stella FJ’s that are going no where. I had 3 Exists. I like the Exsence for my lighter treble hooked baits/Stellas for finesse which I do a ton of. Typing as a smallmouth guy here. All mentioned are ...

Re: Nice BC reel for Casting 1/4-1/2oz baits LONG DISTANCE

A 2 3/4” TRD (out of the pack with no salt leached out) plus 1/16 is pretty darn heavy (to me) but more importantly compact/aerodynamic. I guarantee that you can find numerous spinning combos that would put a 5” nail weighted Senko into another zip code doing so. Two handed as well if one chooses. I...

Re: Short 5-5’6” rod for small river and stream smallies

The classic Loomis spins are gone.

If you weren’t dead set on 1/4 plus offering total weight (all I fish are river smallmouth) because I don’t throw that heavy (wedge factor) I would have stated 6400. It’s gone but can be found.

Re: Someone talk me out of this....

Thank you sir. I figured heavier than I use for them that’s why I always ask nowadays. Ten years ago I didn’t have to.

That would be 872 NRX territory for me (weight) with other offerings (tube).

I tried

Happy shopping sir.

Re: Someone talk me out of this....

What weight Ned’s ? I have to ask as they’ve grown from the original prescription. Just curious.

I fish them a bit along with a ton of finesse stuff on spins and have never found a Loomis of some sort that I couldn’t match to conditions. Just asking.

Re: Shiver Glide 5.45

Sir I’ve thrown them a ton at big river smallmouth. They can be bomb cast as they’re heavier than a fluke, they’re way more durable than a fluke and I think they move more water. I think I’ve still got 20+ bags in one of my big Rubbermaid bins.
