Re: Recommendations for a hairjig rod
The Chris Johnston and 901 have the same bend under load. Extremely similar in that regard. Hope that helps. I should preface that I have zero time with non NRX 901’s original or current. I throw a ton of hair both up in the column and down, one is always rigged. I went a different route than the ma...

Re: Ned Rod choices - P5 / NRX+ / AGS
I like a longer rod for Ned fishing too in general, especially larger variants. The Steez AGS "The Ned" is a finesse oriented Ned rod. It's magic with the smaller Ned rigs plain and simple. I'll just reiterate that the Steez AGS The Ned is amazing for true Ned rigs (1/8oz or smaller heads). Best de...

Re: New US Market Poison Ultima
I'll write a little more later when I have more time, but after coming back from the pond I had to just say one thing: This rod craps all over my NRX+/Steez rods... literally next level. I haven't held a rod that has impressed me this much since the 2016 Addermine. Curious sir as to what NRX+ spin ...

Re: New US Market Poison Ultima
You bomb casting a drop shot and where it loaded to with a 3lber gave me a pretty good indication. I get the JDM company blanks vs US Loomis but these being US models not specific to Japan spurred my inquiry. While I’ve had my NRX+ models (and NRX before that) spins dialed in intimately to smallmou...

Re: New US Market Poison Ultima
Thanks, I ask as I am curious to how the blank bends under load compared to NRX+ models you’ve fished. I’ve got 7 of the NRX+ models and multiples of some so comparisons to the NRX+ blanks are what I’m intimately familiar with. I would guess SJR with a more pronounced bend rather than a shut off po...

Re: NRX+ 901S SJR - What are you main uses for this rod? Comparisons to other rods.
You hear about marabou jigs (fluff), small swim baits etc because they aren’t bottom contact baits being utilized with this rod. They are being retrieved up in the column. So look past overall weight of the aforementioned being similar. While the 901 and 821 are both one power, one is the SJR taper ...

Re: New Stradic Fm
American Legacy fishing has a ton of stuff from Shimano. Have the new Stradic FM and new Curado 200M too. They have the Aldebaran BFS listed, maybe it is coming to the US market too? At $460 of course... Anything ALFC unveiled today is open to pre-order so I would confirm availability here. The NRX...

Re: 22 Stella Question - My experience disappointing so far
No wear near as free feeling as my Vanquishs, Certate or Exsence reels out of the box... not even compared to my Stadic Ci4+. No grinding or anything, no locking up, just resistance. Assuming there's nothing wrong with the reel - everything you compared it to has some kind of light composite rotor,...

Re: Do You Use Spinning Reels?
Why are the reel manufacturers phasing out the anti reverse component on the new models. I 'm kind of late to the game. Whats wrong with back reeling a large fish??? It's a SW thing, to stop water intrusion. Drags have come far enough (coupled with widespread use of braid) that back-reeling isn't r...

Re: Shimano Expride B 7' light spinning rod
It’s a fun stick. I utilized three last year with Stellas and 5-8lb PowerPro for downsized (1/8-.1/4) treble hooked baits for my river smallmouth. It keeps those hooks pinned nicely.

I can get crazy distance with my JDM met and , Phenix k2 714 with a fluke. I'd bet $ no spinning rig could outcast it.

Re: NRX 902s vs Steez AGS MML for ned rigs
Hobey’s thoughts are mine regarding the 821 vs 901. Their similarities end on paper. The 821 has a shut off point under load that the 901 (or 902) doesn’t have. In comparing SJR vs JWR that’s often the case. As far as the 842 (again SJR) I wouldn’t be doing bottom contact with it in 20-30’. The 872s...
