tj,
I'm with you...I've been caught out on Kentucky Lake when I thought I wasn't going to make it back in on more than one occasion!
Of course, as you said, it's definately not the great lakes.

Thank you each and every one of you for your replies. It means a lot.

Re: Shaky Head line preference
I've got 8lb Sunline Sniper spooled on my Pixy I use for shakey heads. No problems at all...pliable line, handles well and is sensitive. Casting distance with my set up is pretty good, too. Prior to this I had been using 10lb PP, but just didn't like it so well as I felt rocks were cutting into the ...

Sad Week
I just wanted to take a minute or two to post about the saddest week I've ever experienced in my life. I do this for a couple of reasons. First, it is a way of expressing to those who have sent me PM's that I haven't forgotten about you, I've just been a little preoccupied. Secondly, it's sort of ca...

Re: BEST LINE FOR A PIXY
FWIW, I spool my Pixy with 8lb Sunline Sniper FC and haven't had a moment's trouble out of it. I tried braid for a while and just didn't like the lower test braids (PowerPro and Sufix were the lines I tried). I ended up going with the Sniper because of the smaller diameter in comparison to other Flu...

Re: Monkey spotted in Kentucky - New reel arrives today!
That monkey must love Kentucky, because after I stumbled on this board, it didn't take long before I had a TD-Ito, Pixy, Alphas and now a Conquest DC on the way (I'm not a shimano guy, but I just had to have the Conquest). Oh...just purchased a new Abu Fantasista MH rod, too...forgot the exact numbe...

LuckyCraft D20's in Pearl Ayu have scored really well for me this summer, no huge lunkers but nice numbers of 2 lb'ers fishing creek ledges in the bays of Barkley Lake.

Re: rough conditions
I hand pour a dragonfly bait that, while it can be a pain to fish at times, works when other baits simply don't. I could send you a few if you PM your address.

Re: Every fish lover should watch this
Unfortunately, they are here in Barkley and Kentucky Lakes...BUT, their numbers are being kept in check by a very, very large contingent of bow fishermen. It's not uncommon for each boat that goes out at night to shoot 100+.
They are bad news indeed.

Re: Jig storage
I'll second the Plano Flipsider for jig storage! It's easy to use; keeps jigs in their place. I take a fine tip sharpie and write the jig size (3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2) on the upper left corner of each pocket for easy identification. Makes finding the jig you want super fast and easy.

FWIW, I toss flukes and the like with my Sol and TD ITO...they both work wonderfully for this application. I'd say that if you want to go JDM, an Alphas would be a wonderful choice.

Re: Deep Cranks
I use them pretty often. I keep two deep crank rods rigged at all times during the summer, one with the Lucky Craft, the other with a Rapala DT16...*THIS* summer, the Lucky Craft has out produced the DT16 by about 3 to 1. YMMV, of course, but I like them quite a bit. I've only lost one in two season...
