Re: 2024 Metanium DC

So the size is identical to the 2020 met? Yes, only sideplate a bit more bulky No mention of the exciting drag sound either on Shimano Japan. Kind of a deal breaker for me nowadays. Since that’s a $10-15 upgrade on AliExpress, I started not minding and not paying attention at all Yes Please \:D/

Bearing oil

My apologies if this goes in a different forum. Wasn’t sure. Wondering what bearing oil are you using for Shimano reels. I used to use yellow rocket fuel but I’m running low. What’s the standard out there currently.

Thanks.

Re: Metanium xg vs 100xg differences

I have both so maybe I’m
Getting them confused. Don’t the non-dc xgs have the switch on the bottom? The reels are in the boat.

Metanium xg vs 100xg differences

Just got 3 of the 100xgs in and noticed no nylon-flouro-braid switch. I thought these reels were supposed to be almost identical except for the spool change. Any other notices/thoughts?

YGK jigman

Hi all, trying to get a little more info than I could find in a search for jigman PE. Any experiences with YGK jigman and comparison to x-braid? What applications for bass fishing does this line excel with?

Thanks.

Conquest is equivalent to what jackall poison rod?

For those in the know is there an order or comparison of Shimano rods and jackall poisons? Primarily overall build and sensitivity? Adrena= nrx+? Ultima=conquest? Or something like Nrx+<adrena<conquest<ultima? Just trying to understand the comparisons and differences Thanks as usual to the buffs!

FG finish help

Need help from the experts… I’ve become pretty proficient with the fg, finally found a technique that is working for me. I am still having problems though with the finish knots coming untied whether I’m using the risutto or alternating half hitches. Ive used 3-7 turns for the risutto and I’ve even h...

Need a dedicated blade/bladed jig rod (mega/loomis/shim)

Looking for a dedicated blade/bladed jig rod that will be used with braid mainline. Using an 843 conquest now but seems a little quick with the braid for moving baits. Thinking possibly the Valkyrie 71mh? Maybe the bjr?
Thoughts?

Re: Wanting more info on midnight knot

Revisiting this thread. I’ve become pretty proficient with the fg, finally found a technique that is working for me. I am still having problems with the finish knots coming untied whether I’m using the risutto or alternating half hitches. I’ve even half hitched 6-8 times to protect the main knot. I’...

Yea, thanks, 40.50, and 60 lb. I’m close just seem to be a bit off, like I’m missing the juice!

Still trying to dial in Met 20 JDM casting settings

Hey all! I’ve been using these reels for about 6 months now but still don’t think I’m getting everything out of them that I can. I have them set on a slow controlled tension knob, 2 brakes on-across, and still need to be on 3-4 to keep from fluffing. I’m using different sizes of YGK upgrade x8. I wa...

Re: Japanese PE line strength?

Thanks I went through that whole thread. Lately I’ve been a little hesitant setting the hook with my 30lb YGK x8 upgrade due to the line diameter of 4-6 lb usdm line. Especially on a moving bait. I’m not sure I could even be comfortable flipping and pitching with 50 and punching with 60 due to the d...

Japanese PE line strength?

Hey guy, What’s the real story with Japanese PE line strength? I don’t quite understand this breaking strength difference in layman’s terms. I have several sizes of Japanese braids from 16-60 and they all seem significantly under powered. Even 50 and 60 lb breaks way easier in anecdotal situations. ...
