Re: need saltwater reel

I fish a similar inshore game primarily. I think it may be difficult to transition for you as it was for me from round reels to low profile. I use both, but prefer the round ones. For low profile, I find the revo sx and premier to be good for lighter baits. For round reels, I love my Luna, especiall...

Re: Abu Garcia WTF's

1- Why are their reels still don't have a bearing supported pinion gear? ](*,) I understand why that may be a concern for you, it was for me as well, until I examined the reel more closely, the pinion rides with very tight tolerances on the disconnected portion of the spool shaft, AKA the spool ten...

Trip to Japan

I will be headed to Japan shortly for some extended stay and will be staying in the Saga area. I usually target saltwater game from shore, but will also target freshwater game while there. If anyone has been to this area before and doesn't mind sharing some tips, they will be greatly appreciated. ' ...

Re: New 2014 Shimano Reels

The levelwind disengagement is interesting, will it allow the levelwind to return to center or move freely should you hook a large fish that pulls a lot of line?

Curado 200B

An aquaintance has a green curado that recently lost two of the spool engagement teeth off of the pinion gear. Is this a warranty fix?
I'd like to repair the reel for him but I don't think I have those gears anymore.

Re: Looking for a wading reel

The deflection is all about tension you can put on the line before flattening the line, in some round reels (morrums) this isn't an issue, since they have tall line guides, but the t-wing is different, and causes a vertical deflection. I changed my mind regarding the two pinion bearings in the case ...

Looking for a wading reel

I'm willing to build one, but the foundation needs to be present, and options available. Requirements: 1. not magnesium 2. spool shaft does not go through pinion gear, i.e. infinispool 3. pinion gear is supported by two bearings, i.e. six point drive train 4. gears must be made of materials harder t...

Re: Abu Revo Gen 3

For me it has to be the Inshore casting, it's where I do most of my fishing, and it's the one I'm most interested in.

Things that matter are bearing placement, gear smoothness, and drag.

Re: Topwater Night Fishing and Treble Hooks

Always reel to set the hook, unless using weedguards. This applies to everything I've encountered.

Re: Help me tune my Morrum

Just bumping an old post, I was wondering if the xt handle required the bent drag star as well, as I want to put one on my morrum.

i'd start here and find a place near you, if there's noone near you, call someone, i remember being steered in the correct direction, and getting the parts i wanted the last time i was interested, and they never charged a dime.
