Re: Down with "poodle grips"
For me, the split grip fits perfectly in my hands. I had a custom made split grip made for me on a Lamiglas blank. I love it!! The cork behind the reel seat is only 1 inch long, and allows the whole back portion of my hand to fit on the blank. After handling a split grip rod, it is pretty tough to s...

Re: ah knots, Help me please
Yeah, I to just started using the double palomar. Twice through the hook eye and two overhand knots. This will not slip through the eye.
Give it a try.
Give it a try.

Re: Frog Advise...
I prefer the Stanley Frog. I use a Med. Heavy casting rod with 40Lb. Braid. As far as hooks, I have used and like the Stanley Screw in hook. But am growing more fond of the Zoom Horny Toad hooks. Screw in hooks are the ticket because you will not rip up the frog as much. Which means, you will be abl...

Re: Cutting braided line
I have just found that the serrated blade of the Rapala cuts better because the serrated edges hold the line in place and prevent the line from sliding. Maybe the trick is to locate anything with serrated edges.

Re: Cutting braided line
These are what I use. They work fine for cutting 30/8 braided line. http://www.cabelas.com/link-12/product/ ... 334a.shtml

Re: new Stanley Floating Ribbit
Yeah, I have thrown those "High Floaters" and am not very impressed with them. The are extremely light and difficult to throw. I thought the same thing about the weighted Stanley Frog Hook, but I think that would defeat the purpose. I am also not very happy with their action.

Re: Owner screw-in hooks for...
I use the screw in hooks (Stanley Frog Hooks and Zoom Horny Toad Hooks) and have to say they save me money on frogs. The frogs do not get torn up as easily. One thing that I do is make sure the frog is screwed all the way up the hook, and then some. If it is not screwed in all the way, the frog will...

Re: We all had to start somewhere...
My first baitcasting set-up was a Shakespeare X-tera combo that I bought from Wal-Mart for $10. What a piece of crap that was. But it taught me that I would be able to use a casting reel. My idea was that I should start out cheep to figure out if I would be able to operate a casting reel.

Re: Top Water Plastic Frogs
For me, I find that the Sizmic Toad catches more fish. I use a Stanley screw in 5/0 Hook and can catch 10-20 fish on the same frog. I think they are a little more durable. However, I also have faith the the Buzzfrog will catch them for meas well. I did a test last season and found that I could catch...

Sol Question
I all, earlier I posted about line breaking strength. This is a similar question. I recently Bought a Sol baitcaster and wanted to put some lighter braided line on this reel. I use braided line and have done so for a long time. I owuld like to use a braid around a 15# mark. Would this be ok, or shou...

Are you talking about the one in Whitehall, PA? I do not think they did. Last I heard they changed to their summer hours. I do not know what that means. I live a mile away from them and will check today.
