Re: Ticking Sound-Stradic FM

I just received a JDM Stradic FM (2000 size, 6:1 ratio). It has no ticks, and I can't advise you on that. I do have a question for anyone with the new Stradic FM: Do you find its startup inertia to be greater than you expected? I sure do on mine. My larger (2500 size), years-old Stradic Ci4+ require...

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis

I've noticed that, but NFC says this: "THE PRICE ($150) WILL BE THE LOWEST PRICE THAT THIS BLANK WILL EVER BE AVAILABLE AT. DUE TO FIBER ALLOCATION/SUPPLY AFTER THE INITIAL PRE-ORDER, THEY WILL NEVER BE ON SALE."

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis

Now I'm really confused! The text promoting these blanks says they sent TackleTour a rod built on one, and it links to Zander's review. That review said the finished rods will retail for $295. But the NFC web page offering the blanks for sale says the unfinished blanks will have a normal retail pric...

Dan B,
I, too, couldn't find these rods on the Edge site last night.

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis

Curious which casting models will sport the full length grip as mentioned in the article. I'm trying to find out this as well and talking to the team about the final configurations for all the rods. I'm also a fan of the solid grip if the balance is right and that swimbait stick has me very intrigu...

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis

Cal, Are all the guides on this rod Recoils, or just the running guides? If the stripper guide is a Recoil, did you try casting with a leader knot of, say, 30 lb. (or heavier) braid and 15 lb. (or heavier) leader of nylon mono or fluorocarbon? (I have some concern about whether leader knots would pa...

Re: An Understated Victory for St. Croix Rods

Thanks, Cal! That would be sold as a Size 25 guide.

It would certainly make more sense to label guides by their inside diameter, since that is what matters in casting.

Re: Built for Finesse. Shimano's Curado MGL 70 K Baitcasters

I don't get it--if "the ideal applications for the new smaller Curado 70 are when fishing 10-14lb fluoro/mono, 20-30lb PowerPro, and baits from 3/16-1/2oz" and the spool weight is 12.7 g (.1 g. heavier than the Curado 100D spool), why is this being touted as a BFS reel?

The first blue-font body paragraph in the review refers to the reel's "19mm MGLIII spool." What measurement of its spool is 19 mm?

Re: Samurai in Training? Daiwa's J-Braid Grand is Ready for Battle

Good review! The "features" ratings chart in the article says it is only available in two colors, but Daiwa's site says it comes in gray, green, and blue. The blue color is probably aimed mostly at saltwater fishermen, but might be the choice of freshwater anglers who rig a topwater reel w...
