Re: Ned Rod
Don't overlook inshore saltwater rods for this application. I've got a St Croix Avid Inshore 7'6" ML that I like for a lot of open hook, finesse presentations. I like it enough that I just coughed up for a Daiwa Ballistic to go on it, it had a Stradic 1000 before that was/is perfectly serviceable bu...

Re: NRX 921S MR
FWIW, I'm fishing a couple of St Croix Avid Inshore 7-6 MLF for those applications and I don't have any complaints. They seem to have a heavier middle than the regular Avids and the weight range is 1/8-1/2 where the regular Avid is 1/8-3/8.

Re: Crappie rod
I fish a lot of 1/8 oz jigs on brush and my favorites are both St Croix Avids, 7' ML and 7'6" ML.

Re: Do not drink and drive... (Shimano Metanium)
My last SWI (Shopping While Intoxicated) incident only cost me about $600. The first $300 buying what I thought I wanted and the second $300 to buy what I was really after once I sobered up.....oh well my son got a $300 Scotty Cameron putter out of the deal

Re: I need help with Avid X Spinning Rod
An observation along the same lines...earlier this year I bought a pair of St Croix Avid Inshore 7'6"MLF to crappie fish with. Most of my fishing consists of vertical jigging structure in 10'-25' feet of water. Since I really wanted the rods to be more general purpose the 1st reels I put on them wer...

Re: Crainkbait/Topwater Rod Poll
I was playing around at the local pond last weekend and had my 704CB and 705CB Glass with me. On a whim I tied a Bandit 200 (1/4 oz) on the 705 and tried it. It worked better than I thought it would!! Normally I'd throw the Bandit on the 704 w/ 10-12# line but it did work on the 705 w/ 15#. I'm thin...

I guess I'll buy one of the small child fist size things (10XD) and give it a try....nothing to lose other than a few $$.

Crankbait on A Swim Bait Rod??
Specifically XD10 on a Dobyns 795ML. Has anyone tried it? I bought a 795 when the holiday sales were on for an A-rig rod but am looking for other uses. I've never thrown an XD10 so I'm not sure what to expect....I do have other CB rods available including an 805 so this isn't a necessity but like I ...

I've used InvisX and Red Label with no problems. Learn to tie the Alberto knot and you'll be set.

Re: Curado Being Discontinued??
I looked at the Chronarch CI4 but didn't care for it for some reason. As for the E series Chronarch it was another reel I looked at but decided against. If you're referring to E series Curados, I've currently got several Citica E series I'm happy with but Shimano has a history of discontinuing parts...

Re: A-Rig / Swim Bait Reel
I had a 200 but traded it for a Citica E because I "needed" another one. Nothing wrong with it though and it would bomb baits out there with the best of ' em. This will likely not be a primary rod / technique for me at this point so the Lexa is in the running for sure!

Re: A-Rig / Swim Bait Reel
Since starting this I've done a ton of reading and it looks like the Daiwa Lexa 300 is becoming the hot item with the serious swim baiter's. Any opinions on it? Seems to be a good option to the Curado....
