Anyone have a Lews 6’8” TP1 Black?
I have a couple Lews TP1 Black rods and really like them, including the 7’1” Medium. I was wondering if the 6’8” Medium has the same action, just shorter. I use the 7 footer for senko’s and it’s great, just too long. I’m wondering if the shorter one is stout enough for senko’s ?

Who does custom reel painting?
I'm not sure what happened to Calfish, I can't find him on the board. He did all my painting in the past. Anyway, who else is painting now that has a good reputation? Preferably someone that can tear down and put the reel back together, a turnkey job.

Re: Casting v's Spinning for Finesse?
Back in the day, I never could get my Shimano's, including a Conquest 50, to cast really light stuff as well as I wanted, which led me to trying Pixy's and Alpha's. I use a Pixy on a Powell Max 682 for dropshotting and Pixy's and Alpha's R and Sol's for various other light weight baits on various ro...

Re: shrink wrap for Dobyns rods
Does this retain the apperance of cork handles similar to the daiwa neopren coated knobs? No, not at all. It comes in colors and is rubber, not anything like clear shrink wrap you use in the kitchen. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa279/reelblues/CA3F7172-7049-436E-8780-188869B036C9.jpg

Re: shrink wrap for Dobyns rods
Just a follow up in case someone is thinking about trying this like I was. I got the 35 mm and fit it over the handle and put it over my stove top and it shrank right down and fit great. Easiest mod I've ever done. I think the 35 mm would fit just about any bass rod handle.

Re: It's Been Quite A While...
Should have mentioned the reel was painted and upgraded by ZPI in Japan a long time ago. A few members and I sent TDZ's over to be painted with Personal Order colors. Ian Shields added the Zillion parts. It probably would look better with the cork to match the knobs, but I have decided to finally fi...

It's Been Quite A While...
Brothers, it's been a few years since I last attended a meeting. My name is Reelblues. I'm a tackle addict. I was 5 or 6 years sober, but recently fell off the wagon, which is why I'm back at a meeting. I was doing good, I sold most of my addiction off. Then I hit a bump, a small one. I bought some ...

Re: shrink wrap for Dobyns rods
That's the kind of wrap I was talking about. I went ahead and got 35 mm diameter as it should shrink down past 1 1/8 inch.Dink Dawg wrote:Accu Cull Grip Saver. I have three rods done with it. It sticks, no slipping, only enlarges the grip slightly and is durable as all get out.

shrink wrap for Dobyns rods
I bought some Dobyns and want to put the shrink wrap on the grips. Wondering if anyone has done it and what size did you use? I got a measurement of about 1 inch for the handle on my rods so I was going to go with the 30 millimeter wrap which should just go over the handle but might be close. Any in...

Dobyns rod help
I bought a couple of Dobyns crankbait rods and really like them. I want to try a couple regular rods in their Champion series. I was thinking of getting a 3 power 6'8" or 7' and was wondering if the actions were comparable to the old Powell Max or maybe the Loomis old IMX. I think I have read somewh...

Re: Original Powell Max vs Max 3D
my max is the 703 and my 3D's are the stout types (7'7 and 7'9) flipping and punching rods. I like the blanks on the 3D as well as the Powell Max. The weight of the 3D is maybe 20% more on like models but balance is great. Overall I think the weight/balance ratio better on the 3D then original max....

Original Powell Max vs Max 3D
I'm sure this got answered when the 3D came out, but I haven't seen anything. I absolutely love my early Max's and was wanting to know how the new 3D compares to the oringinal Max, especially for the 6'8" MH and 7'2" MH. Thanks!
