Re: Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG

Ok guys, spent almost a week on KY lake using them. Kept both on the deck at all times cause I've got a boat load of core 50's and know what they can do. I spooled one up with 8 lb sunline fluoro at first and was throwing tiny shad raps that are usually dang near impossible to throw on casting equip...

Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG

Just got in one of these in a right hand and liked it so much ordered another in a lefty. Wanted something that could pitch light lures easy. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm on a reel restocking kick. Can't wait for the UPS man to get here today. He'll be dropping off 5 new Core 50's and ...

Re: Side-Imaging - Is it worth the dough?

I would be lost without it now. I've run it since the very first HB hit the market, actually a while before they actually officially released them. My opinion on them is it is the only thing you will ever buy that will instantly make you a better fisherman. The stuff is flat amazing; if it is instal...

Core 50 Gear Change

This I'm sure has been covered somewhere but I couldn't find it in a search. Is it possible to lower the gear ratio on the Core 50's? I'd like to drop the gear ratio on a few of mine. I didn't know if there was a gear set from another reel that might work. Prefer to at least get it down into the 5 r...

Re: JDM rod for T-rigs

Either the 7' med/hvy Steez or the 7'1" Compile X Steez would work great for the texas rigs and jigs. I don't think you could ever find a rod that would be really good at throwing tx rigs/jigs and also crankbaits though. At least I'd never be happy with one rod to do all of that. Those applications ...

Re: Steez Spinning Rod: Zander, anyone?

I love all my other Steez rods. I like them better than any rod I've owned. I'll buy a Steez rod for any application they build a rod for but the options are really limited. I'd like to see them add a lot more options to the lineup. Some cranking rods and some topwater/spinnerbait rods, just a good ...

Re: Cotton Candy

I seldom throw a spinnerbait or swimblade (chatterbait) without putting a cotton candy skirt on it. I don't know what it is about the color but I've caught fish on it everywhere I've tried it. Water color doesn't seem to matter either, clear or dirty. The only difference I make is in clear water I p...

Re: Steez Spinning Rod: Zander, anyone?

I've been wanting one of those myself. I havn't been able to find one in a store around here yet and I was a little concerned about its Med/Lt rating. I don't want a rod that is too light and flimsy at the tip. The lure weight rating they have on it makes me think it will be fine for what I'm wantin...

Re: ZipBaits B-Switcher Series

I've got a few of these. I think mine are the middle size that your pic shows. I got them off ebay. I've caught a few fish with them but I really havn't thrown them a lot. I need to tie them on a little more and give them a chance cause they did catch fish. Mine run good and were well made.

Re: My New Defective Kistler Rod or Typo

I highly recomend Simmons Sporting Goods also. I've spent a small fortune buying Steez rods from them and didn't have a problem one. They were great. Every rod was very well packed, better than I've seen anywhere, and the shipping was really fast. They were a heck of a lot cheaper than any place els...

Re: Recommended line for Steez

Anyone tried the Daiwa Steez line yet? I think its fluorocarbon, if I remember right. I'm always on the lookout to find the best fluoro line out there and I've been curious about this one. I've been meaning to order a spool and try it out but havn't done it yet.

Re: Rick Clunn Lucky Craft - Colors + Sizes?

Those are the best new crankbaits to come out in a long time IMO. Its one of my top 2 baits for sure. I mainly throw the 1.5 and 2.5 and my favorite color of all is the blue bream. I've caught so many fish on it that I've flat wore the paint off 4 or 5 of them now. I mostly fish in So. IL, on the Oh...

Re: Line diameter on baitcasters

I've noticed a big difference in casting distance with different lines, specially with light lures. I like to throw a Norman Deep Tiny N crankbait, which is pretty small. One day I tied it on one of my Loomis CBR843/Chronarch MG50 combo's and I had 20lb Seaguar fluoro on it where I'd been using it t...

Re: Wave Tiki Stick vs. Yamamoto Senko

I've used and caught fish on both, but my absolute favorite is the Strike King 3X Zero. I've caught 20 to 30 fish on one of them before. I don't think I've ever used one to the point I had to throw it away and get another, I've always lost it first. I guess the only time I prefer the yamamoto is if ...
