Re: Scorpion DC 100 Brakes stopped working

The Calais DC had the best DC unit IMHO. I haven't had a chance to fish any of the newer JDM Antares DC reels to compare. They use a similar system with some updates. I had many discussions with the engineers about the lures used and other factors to help program the new DC braking curves. I would l...

Re: Scorpion DC 100 Brakes stopped working

That sounds like a software glitch in the DC to me. Once it starts working again it should be OK. I have heard of things like this on the Scorpion DC (older models and I-DC 5 models). We have not had this issue on the I-DC 4 or on the Metanium DC in the US.

Re: Shimano Calcutta TE100DC -Side Plate Shaft Question

The screw that holds the left side plate on the 100DC will not work on the TE. They are different designs due to how the reel functions. There is no reason for a quick detach/opening side plate on the DC. The TE has this feature to make VBS brake adjustments easier. Since the TE has an external dial...

Re: VBS brake maintenance/issues encountered

Push on the brass pins on the spool towards the center. The pins can get loose over time, and being this is a CH100A model, the reel is probably well used at this point. The pin could push outward because the hole for the pin wears. This will make slight contact with the brake race and make noise. I...

Re: They're back...

The newer reels like the Metanium and Aldebaran have good frame guards inside to prevent the contact from the clutch parts. This is what caused issues in the older reels. 99.9% of corrosion problems are due to anglers not properly washing the reels after use in salt/brackish water. I started fishing...

Re: They're back...

The Chronarch D and Core reels shared tooling. I am not 100% sure if you can use the CH frame on the Core. It should work, but I have never tried.

Re: Shimano recommended gear grease CU150 DC

All of the authorized service centers received the list with the grease part numbers. I will make sure they get it again.

Re: Shimano spinning reel annoyance

The shim is only for the drive gear. This adjusts the drive gear depth into the pinion gear. Adding a shim to the pinion will change the position of the pinion slightly and it is not advised. If you have never tried to adjust a spinning reel I would advise you not to attempt it. Spinning reels can b...

Re: Shimano spinning reel annoyance

A little play is normal and needed with any ring and pinion type gear. Yes they can be adjusted, but due to tolerances in the frames, gears, bearings, etc there can be play. Adjusting the gears with shims is not something I would recommend for the beginner. Each reel model has a set of specification...

Re: Chronarch MGL clicking sound

There could be a ding or damage to one of the teeth, either drive or pinion. It could have happened during the cleaning process, assembly, disassembly. If you have isolated it to the gears I would go ahead and replace them.

Re: Star drag and handle options, Scorpion XT?

I believe the star was painted to match the body on that model. The star for the Curado E is discontinued. You may have to look at the aftermarket places like ZPI and others.

Re: BNT4631-Idle gear pin

There are issues with the website. We had a position to fill that handles the small parts and changes. That person is supposed to update the web team to revise the schematic. Many times things slip through the cracks. In the future just post here and ask me, or call our customer service number. 877-...
