Re: Feed Your Enthusiast Soul : Conquest 842C MBR
Sorry this response will be a mix of factual data and my own personal thoughts. This is not anything negative about Cal's review. Despite what people think I actually like the TT guys and have fished with them. Once you get to that level it's hard for the human hand to notice increases in sensitivit...

The handle side-side plate is Magnesium. The palm side plate is CI4+.
Our website does show the weight as 6.2 ounces.

Re: Jackall’s Gantarel Effectively Mimics Bluegill and Panfi
I just wanted to let everyone know why there are feathers on the hooks. The feathers help to float the hooks a little more. This aids the angler when fishing over shallow structure like submerged brush.

Re: Pre-ICAST the New Shimano Stradic FK Spinning Reel
We are using the Core Protect feature which makes the roller clutch water resistant. There is also a rotor covering this portion of the reel, so the ports in the spool make no difference. Those are there for appearance and to reduce weight on the spool assembly. The Stradic is not just a freshwater ...

Re: Pre-ICAST the New Shimano Stradic FK Spinning Reel
To improve the waterproofness of the reel we eliminated the anti reverse switch. This is an easy entry point for water in the reel. Because the Stradic sees use in both inshore and freshwater applications, we decided to eliminate this feature. We made the drag knob larger to make it easier to do a q...

You can also reel it steady on the surface like the old Heddon Torpedo topwater lures.

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's
There is no denial on my part. I think the Calcutta D is a win and I like the reel. I am thankful that there were NRX issues because it allowed me to repair reel seats and obtain several rods for my personal use :) I have my favorite products and that is what I use. Step onto my boat and you will se...

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's
The 50 and 100 sizes simply did not sell well enough to continue offering them in the new model. No matter what we do people will complain. That is a given. I simply wanted to point out the reasons that some changes were made. Some of my personal observations were given and as I can see, some of you...

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's
I prefer the 300 for big baits. I use a 300TE, then the Curado 300 and now I will have a 300D once I have the chance to get one. It has more than enough torque.

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's
I promised a pic of this earlier. As you can see there are no loose gears when the side plate has been removed to adjust the VBS. Just like the original Calcutta models with upgrades:

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's
The gearing is not like the B or the TE. It is unique to the D series. The reel has more than enough power to handle big bait fishing all day. I think you will be surprised with how this reel fishes compared to the B and the TE. The new gear design we are using helps with adding power without making...

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's
A low profile reel does not have a forged frame like the round reel. Less machine work is needed since they are castings. You are comparing apples to oranges with that statement. I honestly believe the message as to what the Calcutta is has been lost. Calcutta was made for power fishing with baits t...
