Thanks guys, Im planning on using it for a jig rod. As I stated earlier, I havent had a chance to use it yet but Im hoping to this weekend. MG reels will corrode even if protected by special coating/paint/etc. It just takes a scratch, SW and time . I have seen some very bad MG corrsion pics on Shimano SW approved MG reels. True. I would never exposed my Mg reels to even brackish water. Nevertheless, i've seen pictures on other fishing ...

OK went ahead and purchased the GLX853. For the price I couldnt pass it up. Picked it up for $289 shipped brand new.
