Hey Cal
On your review of the Evergreen no trigger rod, you mention triggers on casting rodsw just came in vogue 25 yearws or so ago. I have been wrapping rods for some 55 years, and I've never seen a casting rod, even the ancient steel rods, which didn't have a trigger. Before Lew's, who started the plasti...

Re: Handle for a Calais 100A
Yes, the Curado 200 handle will fit, that's what I use on my Calais 100, and I think they are around $35, bantam cud verify price. The Curado 200 handle is same as handle on a Core100mgfv, with the large septon knobs.

Shimano Reel Handles
Do you still have to order Shimano parts over an 800 number, or is there a website where you can order them.
I am looking for a handle with big grips like the Calais 200, the Core MGFV, or the Curado 200.

Re: okuma komodo
I have the Komodo ordered, supposed to get it 12-30. I'm putting it on an Okuma Citrix 6 - 8 MH rod I have, which weighs 4 ounces, so will be about an 11 ounce rig with line, has 7.3 gears, and I'm gonna use it foe traps on Fork and Sam Rayburn. I also ordered an Okuma Helios rod and reel. Got the r...

Call Brannans Bass Shop at 800-725-3422. I was there today and they have hundreds of War Eagle spinnerbaits. Or check them out on the web.

Re: Does sinking line make a difference?
Team Daiwa, I have to agree with you on the braid not spooking fish. I have 18 rigs in my racks and they all have braid, that's all I use, some green, some bright yellow. I think this line visability thing is BS. If a bass knows what a fishing line is, then he will know what an artificial lure is, a...

Hey Reel Old Geezer
You're old enough to know, but you may live in the wrong part of the country. For months I have been racking my old mind trying to think of the name of the man who started fliptail worms in Georgia. By any chance do you know? Thanks from another reel old geezer!

Re: Spinning Reels, Size, Wind Loops, Etc
With the bail off, it is very easy to feather the cast as there is no bail to get in the way of your finger. Van Stahl made bailless spinning reels for years, and may still do, although I know they are making them with bails now. This started for me back in 60's, with the Mitchell 300 something whic...

Re: Strike King Rocket Shads
Replace the double hook with a spolit ring and an Owner frog hook, the one with the coil of wire in the eye of the hook. Put on a grub texas style and you have a super weedless spinnerbait you can throw about anywhere you can throw a worm. And it catches bass.

Re: Spinning Reels, Size, Wind Loops, Etc
Bantam, on most of the reels I have cut the bail off, didn't have to rebalance, but did some.

Spinning Reels, Size, Wind Loops, Etc
Reading the post on some of us wanting small reels in the better grades of Shimano spinning reels. Here are some late night tips I have learned in 50 some odd years of using spinning tackle. The first thing I do, and everyone should do, to a new spin reel I buy, I cut the damm bail off. Train your f...

Size of MG7
Which reel is the MG7 comparable to in size? Is it as small as a 50 MG, or same size as the old 100 MG? Thanks

Re: ultimate spinnerbait rod...?
Now I'm really gonna be different. My ultimate spb rod is a custom I made from a Cabelas XML blank, medium/fast, 5' long, with a short, straight handle I turn to fit my hand. It's got a Chronarch 50 MG, with 20 # power pro on it. I cast left handed, all underhanded, either right or left side of my b...
