Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
893c is the best bottom contact rod on the planet in my opinion. I can feel when fish are just swimming by or nosing around. Have set the hook several times and snagged the fish. 893c is SPECIAL & I have hooked plenty of bass outside the mouth. I have the green model & running 12lb pline tactical. ...

Re: Sensitivity
893c is the most sensitive bottom contact rod on the planet in my opinion. I can feel when a fish is swimming around my bait. I have been impatient and set the hook a few times and snagged the fish.

Re: Supertuning expectations
There's tuning, super tuning, and there's simply replacing parts. I agree, with most new high end, even medium end reels there is little or no need for super tuning. There can be gains for a few key areas to me. Mainly drag, spool and spool bearings. To me: Tuning is basically a complete disassemble...

Team Daiwa TD Minnow SP in gold with an orange belly has been one of the best I have used. This is discontinued now, hard to find. I have watched fish come across a cove to nab it.

Sorry to be confusing. Just thought it might give you a starting point to trace one down or find an alternative.Scattergun2570 wrote:DougL58 wrote:Check Alan Tani's site. There is a pic.

I use crankbaits a lot. I have gone through many rods. This is on deck now for all my deepest divers.

My favorite bottom contact rod is the NRX 893 but for heaver weights the 7’1” Steez SVF Compile-X is the bomb. It actually handles down to ¼ oz well.

Re: A different type of bearing question
I've found that tungsten disulfide "Impingment" which is believe is the proper term. Last for awhile for bass reels. But high speed long rang conventionals. Not so much.. (500-600-700' plus) I've also confirmed this with other distance casters. Not sure what you mean exactly here. My experience, ha...

Re: A different type of bearing question
Dremel tool is a must to apply the tungsten disulfide to a bearing. The mandrels are only a few $ and are mostly made just by fitting parts together. I have applied the powder dry to the bearings in small amounts as well with good results. Place a small amount of the power on the bearing and hold th...

Re: A different type of bearing question
I always run bearings dry but with a coating of Tungsten Disulfide. The pictures are not working now (Damn Photo Bucket) but the details there and there is a video.

Re: TSI 321 on main gear
I'm not familiar with WS2 powder. What is it? I've been using Cal's Reel and Drag Grease. Tungsten Disulfide sometimes referred to as WS2 is dry/solid lubricant powder and is one of the most lubricious substance in world. You can mix the WS2 powder with wet lubricants such as oil, grease & other sy...
