After so many years the Sol just looks timeless.
I couldn't agree more. Something about that color really grabs me, and I normally don't give two $hits about aesthetics.

l'm thinking it's time to pull my Sol out of retirement and get it back in the lineup ....

Re: Rod damage- how to repair

Mark, that's brilliant! I was going to fish it till it broke and make it a 6'7" or 6'8" rod. :) I think I can do that. How bad will that mess up the balance? Right now, for a 7'3" rod, it's amazingly light (1/16 to 1/2oz lures) and awesome. I guess alternatives are few and far between. This is one ...

Got a dozen last month, been wanting a smaller vibe for years. Havent been out w/em yet. I believe a larger model (3/4 oz?) may be either out or coming soon as well.
The 3/4 is out, TW has it although most are on backorder until later in the month

Re: Rod damage- how to repair

If the break is behind the handle in an area that doesn't normally flex, you may have a shot by using the method outlined in this thread here - http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=81857 It didn't work in my case as I attempted a repair on the tip section but may very well work in your cas...

Re: Carbontex drag washers

There is a lot of info in this forum if you use the search window. Generally speaking, fishing them dry will be more likely to keep them from slipping on heavy hooksets with bottom contact baits (punch, texas rig). A small amount of grease is fine if you want them to break free a little easier on h...

Re: Bone Stock Reels

I tear mine down to the frame and lube them to my liking right from the get go I do the same, including greasing up the frames since some of my reels see saltwater duty. What grease do you use on your gears? I've been putting shimano drag grease on everything, but I noticed on a couple of Tatulas t...

Re: Bone Stock Reels

When y'all get a brand new reel , do you open them up right away and give them a proper lube ? Or do you run them the way they come first ? I've always lubed them up right out of the box but , wondering what others do ? I tear mine down to the frame and lube them to my liking right from the get go ...

TW has them cheap on their 25 days of Christmas promotion, along with several other brands of lipless baits (day 24)

Yo-Zuri Rattlin' Vibe Mini

I'm a sucker for lipless baits, also not afraid of light line and downsizing. These fit the bill perfectly at under 2" and 3/16 oz. Looking forward to throwing these things next season. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0084/4785/2604/products/yo-zuri-rattln-vibe-mini-r1354-csbl_600x.jpg?v=1571605958

Re: Suggest a hook whose tip won’t curl

Carry hook file and you can touch them up and straighten the point in a couple of strokes. What he said. Can you duplicate the factory stickiness of a top quality chemically sharpened hook ? No. Can you make a beat up hook plenty sharp enough to stick many fish and keep the bite going vs replacing ...

Re: Single hook VS Treble hook

I went to single hooks on some baits over two years ago, here's some real life observations. I fish lipless cranks a lot ... singles can be significantly more weedless in many situations, but not completely weedless. When they're aggressive and really choking down the baits, you're gonna hook up and...

Re: Cork Seal Prep

Two golden rules of applying cork seal - - Clean dry cork to begin with. How you get it that way is a matter of personal preference. Magic eraser has worked well for me. - Apply ONE THIN COAT ONLY !! Anything beyond that will result in a dull hazy finish. It tells you on the bottle that a second coa...

But I'm having a hard time believing it's the most stable for some reason. I guess stability is subjective, no real way to quantify it. It comes down to your particular level of coordination I guess. I too was tentative while still in my research phase, it was my chance meeting with another angler ...

Re: AliExpress

Rods I've received from Kuying have always been shipped well packed and arrived w/o any damage. Tsurinoya has not been as diligent in their packing and I received a damaged rod from them. Fortunately, they did make good with a replacement. I've probably purchased around 10 rods from Aliexpress and ...
