Re: What do the Japanese covet ?

It’s human nature to want what you can’t have. I get it about Japanese tackle, but the notion that it’s superior in every way is frankly ridiculous. But this isn’t about that. I’ve often ran across American baits on foreign websites while googling them, so there is something to it. One thing that d...

What do the Japanese covet ?

Just out of curiosity ... As I look at the big pegboard in my basement stocked with all kinds of new in pack baits by all sorts of manufacturers - Lucky Craft, Yo-Zuri, Duel, Strike King, Bomber, Rebel, XCalibur, Rapala, Booyah, etc. I wonder what, if any, baits of ours do they drool over ? All of t...

Re: Social distancing ...

Most waters up here are small (50-75 acres) and many have no ramp at all. Add to that that virtually every inland fresh water lake here is electric only, it helps keep traffic to a minimum. Perfect for canoes and kayaks.

Social distancing ...

For now at least my state has kept ramps and waterways open. We're in the southern part of the state, far from the New York / North Jersey metro area that's been hit so hard. Ramps and lakes have seen some activity but everyone maintains their distance and it's still possible to get out and away for...

Old Reliable ...

My TD Advantage 153HSTA 'Supertuned'. It's been in my starting lineup going on 10 years now. I just got done it's annual teardown/clean/lube. It's a workhorse, still butter smooth and has never let me down. It's spent the last 4-5 years on a 7' 6" lipless crank rod and has caught me countless fish. ...

Rods you bought for one technique that you weren't thrilled with initially ...

... that turned out to excel at a completely different technique. I had bought a 7' ML Major Craft Volkey Big Lake Custom with a fast action some years back. It's intended use was for finesse applications, which it was okay at. Not the most sensitive stick by any stretch BUT one day about 2 years ag...

Inline single hook size comparison aid

For those curious about what size inline hooks to buy, this may be helpful. Sizes from left to right 2/0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 https://i.postimg.cc/W3WCh7qv/inline-singles-size-reference.jpg Standard shank trebles. Most of these are Owners, but same sizes can vary among manufacturers. Sizes left to right 2...

Re: Smallest diameter swivel/quick clip/fastach clip/snap clip

Mr ULJersey, How long of leader do you use on your bfs setup? what brands and tests are you using??? I run Sufix Performance braid (10 lb test, 4 lb equivalent diameter) as a mainline with 4 lb Sufix Advanced mono as a leader. I'm in the minority on the leader, I actually like the little bit of str...

Re: Smallest diameter swivel/quick clip/fastach clip/snap clip

Man, I don't know about reeling anything metal through line guides, regardless of how small it is. Aside from the obvious risk of guide damage, I would think casting distance would suffer - it does a tiny bit even with the smallest profile leader knot, it would have to be exponentially worse with me...

I'm deeply saddened and speechless - https://www.gofundme.com/f/memorial-for-craig-defronzo Craig was an all around good guy. I've been trading tackle back and forth with him for years, had many discussions with him. Generous and always helpful with any info, plus he grew some of the meanest Ghost p...

Hi, I’m the one weirdo who likes rubberized cork. I have a Kuying rod with rubberized cork grips and man I love the way it feels, especially with wet hands.
That sounds like the Fenwick TAC material I mentioned. Fantastic stuff IMO.
