Re: OG's vs copies
There are but a handful of truly original bait designs. Pretty much any billed crankbait can be traced back to Fred Young and countless other bait builders back in the late 50's and beyond. Slender minnow baits have been around for well over 100 years. Megabass may have perfected the concept and twe...

Re: Fav small cranks for smokin and burning?!
This won’t get much love on this site but anyway, take a look at the Bomber Square A. The larger of the 2 sizes offered is 2” long and weighs 3/8 oz. It’s a stubby little beast that comes through anything I’ve ever thrown it into like a 4WD truck. It has a single rattle that throws off a muted one ...

Re: Do You Use Spinning Reels?
Agreed, but that's how they spin it. You know winding your spinning reel in reverse allows some of the lost wiped off grease to recoat the main gears teeth. "Well now you do." I played a country song backwards … my dead truck started, my runaway dog came back and my wife stopped cheating on me …

Has happened to me a time or two … No drum out here in New Jersey, the culprits were likely catfish or snakeheads. It’ll get your heart rate up for sure

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Snakehead I caught yesterday. I don't target them specifically but this body of water has quite a few. New Jersey F&W has a kill mandate on them as they are considered an invasive species but this one got released. I'm not going to behead it in the canoe and have a bloody slimy mess to deal with an...

Re: Non marring tool option for handle nuts etc …
Yeah, can’t argue the price factor but just throwing an option out there. A good tool to carry in an on board tool kit for the boat, mountain bike etc as it has a decent working range. I have quite a tool inventory from my 30+ year career as a mechanic. While I do own a good bit of the “big 3” (Snap...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
If you’re feeling really adventurous, those little butane torches will get a hook hot enough to solder the eye joint shut. Practice on junk hooks first to get the feel & technique down.

Knipex pliers wrench in the micro XS size … 9A7F3EB1-F31C-41E1-B379-33AA3BEDDBCE.jpeg For those not familiar with plier wrenches, these are NOT channel lock pliers that use a pivot to achieve clamping force. The jaws on these stay parallel throughout the entire travel range. The more force applied t...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
Been looking to order a bunch of Jackhammers from JDM site, but they temporarily stopped carrying them. I know the Break Blades got a mention in this thread for an issue, but overall are they that bad? I ask cause my website still has them. FWIW, I only used the 3/16th ounce versions. It could be t...

You can only take one ….
…. style of plastic on your next trip. What are you taking ? I’m torn between tubes and flukes with tubes getting the nod. I don’t fish a lot of plastics but tubes are ridiculously versatile and work well in the entire water column. I’ll go a step further and will take only green pumpkin and still h...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Wow! I'd be afraid it would bite me! While they do have have a daunting set of teeth, they tend to clamp their mouths shut when caught to the point of it's almost impossible to get them open. That being said, I still handle them with the utmost of caution as I'm sure they could inflict some serious...

Re: No weld aluminum canoe/kayak cart
Major FAIL on the first prototype. The first time out the, both of the horizontal support bars that the canoe rests on snapped the connectors that fastened them to the vertical bars that they were fastened to. The connectors I initially used are die cast and thin at one end which apparently was a we...
