Re: lightest handle

did you give them time to activate before plugging?
Maybe a small 1/4 hole in EVA might handle the change in pads, allowing enough air without letting all the heat escape
I will have to purchase some of the new ones and work on it.
Thanks for the heads up!

Re: lightest handle

Woodsmen;
I plug both ends with fitted EVA, keeps the heat in.
I would think 90 95 degrees should still be good. Did not get to go fishing in cold weather this year so there may be a difference, but capping the ends has worked to keep the heat in, in the past.

Re: Any new rod blanks at ICRBE?

Jimmy; Yes and no! Most of what you are seeing in waviness is a lighting optical allusion. It is wavy where the extra matrix material was added but not the rest of the blank The matrix stuff starts at 11-3/4” up from butt and stops at 34-1/2” probably affecting the stripper guide, but not the rest. ...

Re: lightest handle

Cuke; If he’s just a kid it may more rod then he can handle. Maybe a shorter version would serve him better. You cold clip some off the butt Bought the 7’1” heavy, wish I had gotten the 7’6” also, but did not think about it until back at the shop with this one and started playing with it. Will use i...

Re: lightest handle

Xyzman; Yes and no Only remember onetime last year that I dunked a handle to cool it off, but with the advantages of carbon in regards to sensitivity, lightness, and overall performance; I if had to dunk them every time I would still use it. You could also use a lighter pigment in the finish to redu...

Re: Any new rod blanks at ICRBE?

Jimmy; I’m not going to say emphatically that it’s not because I didn’t ask the designer who was present how they came about the texture. But if it; it is most definitely different then any cellophane warp I have seen. The un-sanded and partially sanded blanks I have are nothing like this. On the ot...

Re: lightest handle

Like mike with the exception of some top water rods, they are all I use and have used for years. Used to buy it pre-made back in the 80’s, but for the last few years have been making most of my own, also had 8 rods on display at the Batson booth with various carbon handle setups. Have never had one ...

Re: Any new rod blanks at ICRBE?

Jimmy It may be hard to explain with out feeling or seeing in person. The blank is textured. I know what you are saying about the cellophane, but in this case the lines you see are actually cut into the blank. (Easier to see in last picture). They look much wider then they are because of using the M...

"I don’t like the sharp transitions of the simple spiral. It works, and many feel it works fine, I just don’t like the hard line transitions you get with it."

I 100% agree with Matt

Re: Any new rod blanks at ICRBE?

was told that retail would be about $200.00 each.
But if you were lucky enough to be at the show you got a good deal and if lucky enough to have a few connections even a better deal

Re: Any new rod blanks at ICRBE?

Jimmy; Don't know how to post pictures, but if you email so I have your E address. I can take pic's with cell phone, if they come out TX it to my email, and forward it to yours, if you don't mind you can post it. There are actually two distinct patterns on the blank about 23 inches long starting fro...

Re: Any new rod blanks at ICRBE?

As Mike said I purchased one of the new T46 Phenex display blanks Its a7 ft .heavy action pitching blank that weighs 1.95 oz. which is incredibly light for a blank rated for 25 lb line. Blank has a very high pitch to it almost sounds like a high tone bell, which is a good indication of its ability t...
