Re: A Shining Star Amidst a Milkyway of Reels: The Antares

Good review, Cal. Nice to know all the differences from the Calais reel.

Just a constructive suggestion, though. You might want to proof read the article again. I found several uncharacteristic for TT errors.

Re: 2013 Bait-the-Finesse Finale : Shimano Aldebaran BFS

very good review. cant wait for the tt review of the t3air so see how your impressions contrast mine. i have one, and its the most amazing reel ive ever fished. That review is now on the TT Home page also. Seems it carries on the tradition of Daiwa "wild child" spool backlashing issues so...

Re: The REVOlution Continues, Abu Garcia’s New Gen 3 Premier

All of that has been well covered in this and the other thread that Steezman started, so rather than continunig to beat this dead horse, just suffice to say I'll stand by my previoius statements on this subject and we can hopefully move onto to bigger and better things.

Re: The REVOlution Continues, Abu Garcia’s New Gen 3 Premier

I only have one question: Why would Zander mention the Gearbox at all in his review? The point is not his mentioning it. Or anyone else mentioning it. Heck, I even mentioned it in my review of my G3 STX. The problem comes in when folks who have never owned one say it's an "issue". Maybe Z...

Re: 3rd generation revo reviews

Isn’t what Zander stated about the Gearbox the same thing what Steezman and I have been stating all along? No, it's not. You said: I see Zander had the same impression and issue with the big gear box as I did. Nowhere does Zander say it was an "issue" for him. Only folks that have not act...

Re: 3rd generation revo reviews

KCL, we gotta' go fishing together. You sound like my kind of fisherman. Ever want to head south and fish some in the winter, look me up. I used to live in MN. It's an easy drive from Iowa to NW Ark. That would be awesome. I get the feeling we'd get along just fine out on a trip to the lake going b...

Re: 3rd generation revo reviews

No, this is where I differ from you, I don't go into threads about things I don't have experience with or have a strong dislike for just to talk crap about it. I don't go out of my way to dismiss someone's opinion or act like they don't know anything because they think Chronado E series are sliced ...

Re: 3rd generation revo reviews

I see Zander had the same impression and issue with the big gear box as I did. No, he did not. He said "Most anglers, including myself , are okay with how the reel feels in hand, though I do find myself holding the reel a little differently with my fingers split around the bulbous gearbox.&quo...

Re: Here we go again

Just read the review on TT for the 3rd generation Revos. I for one don't understand why there is so much praise for this reel. I have tried both the Premier and the STX they are by no means smooth. A friend of mine couldn't stop talking about how great they were ,well he had to return both one for ...

Re: 3rd generation revo reviews

Your post is a bit confusing. You said someone had to return "both" reels and you refer to apparently having fished some Gen3 reels. Can you be more specific about what reels you're referring to? The gear case bulge is still something I have never heard an actual owner complain about. Like...

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's

I recall when the Z2020 came out and most felt it wasn't a worthy pirchase be wise it weighted like a tank. What they failed to appreciate was that it was built to be a tank. I think we're seeing the same issues with the D. I don't think it's quite the same thing in this case, though. The Calcutta ...

Re: Product Insight on new Calcutta's

The Calcutta is not a niche reel. I am just saying that most bass anglers keep something that is dedicated and do not play around with settings once they find what is right for them. Okay, I don't know if that's true or not. But if that's the thinking, why does Shimano offer the quick access sides ...
