Re: 90 v 60 degree jighead line ties
The difference is in how you intend to use it. 60 degree line ties are better for dragging but do well swimming a bait if the line tie is positioned at the very nose of the head. The bait will stay a little deeper at the beginning of the retrieve because of the lower angle of the line tie. The head ...

Re: Favorite brown jig trailer
Zoom Super Chunk comes in plain brown. I have the same issue which is why I usually have to have the custom soft plastic guys make me brown trailers. Plain brown or brown with black flake, I can find skirt tabs in that color but not many jig trailers.

Re: Very good, inexpensive square bills?
Yo-Zuri 3DB 1.5 square bill. I have those as well as the older 3DB square bill which is larger with a deeper diving depth. All of the lures in that series are exceptionally good at a killer price point for what you are getting. Another is Bagley Rattlin' Kill'r B square bill. This is one I use with ...

Re: Maribou and Ned rod
I know this isn't the length you want but trust me, killer rod. It is discontinued but you might be able to find one, the G.Loomis Bronzeback 811s-SP. 6'9" 1 power rated 1/8oz to 1/4oz but I throw 1/16oz with it just fine. I liked the St. Croix Avid 7'ML-F but it lacked a good backbone, kind of on t...

Re: Cold versus warm water jerkbaits
The Vision 110 is a great bait in water above 50 degrees. I will flat out smoke smallmouth in 40 degree water with either a Lucky Craft Pointer 78 or 100 and a Smithwick Elite 8 Rattlin' Rogue.

Re: Favorite spring time crankbait for 6-10 ft
Rapala DT 6 and DT 10 as well as the old DT flat 7. Recently the Bagley Sunny B has been taking over for the DT 6, it is very good in colder water. Then my bread and butter baits which are the Bomber fat free shad 5 and 6 and old reliable 7A. Almost everyone around me is throwing the newest cranks a...

Re: Bail touching reel spool issue
I have the exact same reel and it has to be something inside. When I look at the first two pictures I see what is causing the issue but I don't know exactly where the problem is. What I see is your spool is way higher on the shaft that what mine is. On my reel when the spool is at the highest point ...

Re: Zona and Lews
Which begs the question, if all of these guys are “fishing on Daddy’s money” (another well known trope), why do they have to follow the highest $$$? How many people turn down MORE money???? So what you’re telling me is men don’t mind the chains wrought by their own choices? They are doing th...

Re: Plastic Hellgramites
Nikko is a good option, but I prefer the baits from a custom company called River Rock Baits. Located in the States, great customer service, and fantastic soft plastics - especially the hellgramite. You should definitely check them out. I've caught crazy amounts of smallies on them. This^^^^^!!! Th...

Re: Discontinued Hard Baits
The Mann's Waker Elite, the best wake crank ever made!!! What makes it so good is that you can burn it and it only goes 3" deep and it doesn't blow out. Every other wake crank I've tried, including the Buzzjet and Buzzjet Jr., either blows out at high speed or ends up diving too deep. Another bait h...

Re: Finesse Shaky Heads?
3 inch worm on a 1/16 shaky head jig, I fish it on a St. Croix Legend panfish 7ft light extra fast with a Daiwa Exist with Sufix 4lb Nano Braid and 4 lb Ultragreen leader, might cause an uproar but it will humble the "NED RIG". Bingo! That's exactly what I like them for, makes a great weedless not-...
