Re: Ultimate blank for perch

Thank you all! I think i'll try Bushido dropshot blank 1st. If it's not what i wanted, i'll make another one. :o The drop shot blanks are great, but also check out the Bushido SJ72/4-8. It's a heck of a blank for panfish, crappie, bluegill, etc. and I have bass guys using it for a finesse ned rig.

Mad-Swirl Carbon Fiber Hybrid

Here are some grips I recently did for another builder. It's a Mad-Swirl hybrid grip.

I'm not sure how to do pictures, so I hope it's ok to link to my facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/ReedRods/photo ... =1&theater

Re: Personal Rod Build - Mad-Swirl

A little gaudy for my taste, but I know a lot of guys that would go bonkers of a rod that. Impressive work. DaveJ I know what you mean. You either like this or you don't. There's really no in between. I like these colors for my person builds as opposed to the brighter ones. My younger crowd seems t...

Sorry about that. I stink with posting pictures on this site because of the size limits. Here is a link to my facebook page where you can see the full size. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater

Personal Rod Build - Mad-Swirl

Here's a dry fitting of a rod I'm building for myself on a bushido blank. It has my signature mad-swirl grips and seat. This will eventually get some thread in the split grip and foregrip areas. I've tweaked the photo, but the actual colors of the rod and grips/seat are true to life. I do not add th...

Thank you. I'm not sure what colors I'm going to do. I don't want the thread wraps to be bright. I had thought about black and metallic silver or gunmetal. I still haven't made up my mind on it.

Carbon Fiber Grip and Mad-Swirl Seat

Here's a build I'm working on now. It features my signature Mad-Swirl on a aero seat and a carbon fiber grip.

Re: Mad-Swirled Grips - Patriot

=D> That's some sharp looking work. What kind of material is it? Those swirls are deceptively difficult. I had thought it would be easier than it is. I've been messing with it to try some marbling on rods…to sum up what mine looks like... Thank you. I did this over rigid 8lb pour foam. There...

Mad-Swirled Grips - Patriot

It's been a while since I've been on here, but here are some new grips I turned and added a Mad-Swirl to. These went to a builder who is working on some rods for donations to the Wounded Warriors event in Texas.

Re: Anyone tried Amtak microwave guide sets?

The KR theory was fairly smooth casting, but the Microwaves really tamed the line. Thanks for your impressions. Some questions from one considering building with them: 1. Have you used both braid and nylon monofilament lines with them? If you've used mono, what's the highest diameter you've used pl...

Re: Anyone tried Amtak microwave guide sets?

I built two spinning RX8 802.75, one with Fuji KR theory, and the other with Microwaves. The KR theory was fairly smooth casting, but the Microwaves really tamed the line. I'm not sure what the weights were on the two, but the Microwaves impressed me. I thought the KR theory was fairly smooth until ...

Mad-Swirled Grips

Here is a new technique I've been working on. It's called a Mad-Swirl. These pictures are of grips, but I have also done reel seats and different parts.

This is not eva, but something very similar to hydrodipping, but much easier.

Re: Seeker React Pro blanks?

You definitely like the blank. Learn how to do a pendulum cast (used for surf casting) using this blank and you'll be able to cast the A-rig to the knot. Also, unless you don't mind losing a chunk of money, don't use a leader. Tie the braid straight to the A-rig. If the myriad of wires hanging from ...

Re: Seeker React Pro blanks?

I've built one for a guy to use as a A-Rig rod. It's a nice blank. I did some custom grips and cobra skin on his build. The only thing, make sure you want a shorter grip. Even though you'll be using it a lot with the tip down, the longer grip will help with fatigue. I would recommend 12" or thereabo...
